I want to try to stay away from Outlook, so is there a good downloadable email program on the internet?

Mozilla Mail isn't too bad. Pegasus Mail is pretty good as well.

My mother uses Pegasus Mail. She seems to like it.

OE has some security issues. Outlook is better in that regard, but people keep finding holes in MS's coding.

Been using it since 98 came out and haven't had a problem. Of course, I've always run Norton and I screen my e-mails.

Generally if you excercise some dilligance you won't get too many problems with OE - but many do not, and they had some nasty autoexecute issues trojan horses. The US in particular was heavily hit by OE doing that.
