Ok, it has recently come to my attention that some consider the canon bridge housed in an ISD's tower to be a secondary one, used only because of Imperial overconfidence in their victory over the Rebel forces. IMHO this is a totally stupid idea, but I thought I'd come and post it to you guys as you are the most knoledgable sources on the subject.
So, my question is, where is the PRIMARY (most used in combat and general operation) command bridge on an ISD? The tower one shown in every canon shot of an imperial warship's command deck, or one never shown and housed elsewhere?

Indeed. In ROTJ (IIRC) a single TL shot blows up an ISD after its shields fall; you could tell they were down by how easily it was destoyed, and you could tell it hand't taken any hits because its hull was spotless (until being blasted to smithereens, anyways).Jadeite wrote:The bridge tower houses the primary bridge. If you think about it, an ISD has pretty powerful shields, if something manages to take them down, your pretty much fucked no matter where the bridge is.
The only time anyone takes advantage of its position is in the Rouge Squadron novels, where they have great fun blasting out the front viewport. Crappy writing, if you ask me.

The bridge tower, of course, houses the bridge. Anyone who says otherwise is incorrect.

You've got the big exposed bridge from which to normally run the ship, and an auxiliary bridge, which probably serves as the CIC deep inside the hull. Modern warships have a similar arrangement. Which one the captain is present at depends on the situation.
