If that asshole Luther can have his own movie, then why can't Temuchin?

I was reading that list and stumbeled on to this:
"Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but -- more frequently than not -- struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God."
[Martin Luther]
Pretty accurate I would say, though the conclusion I draw from that is probably the exact opposite of what Luther intended.

I disagree. Without Luther there is no J. S. Bach. Without J. S. Bach there is no modern music.

Luther was a fallen and sinful man. That comes as no shock. If one wants to see what Christianity is supposed to be, look to Christ.

You are correct:

Romans 8: 23 - 24

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Maybe they should make a movie about that...

The point was that for a Christian to say someone is "lost/fallen" says absolutely nothing about that person.

Ah, but that is the point, for a Christian is yet fallen and thus yet sinful, despite faith in Christ. His sensitivity to sin is increased, thus reducing its frequency (assuming he follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit in him that is increasing that sensitivity), but he yet remains a victim of Adam's original sin. Thus, his standards are higher, and those outside the Faith perceive the same, so they also elevate the expectations of what those who claim allegience to Christ should be. The danger is that many outside the Faith (and some within it) will point to examples of sin exhibited by those of the Faith and say, "See! Chrisians are hate-filled!" instead of looking to the author of the Faith (and the only one to achieve perfection): Christ Jesus, the risen Son of God. So you see that the point is to look to Christ instead of those who claim to follow him -- or as my father put it long ago: "Will you follow Christ or follow some crooked preacher to Hell?"

The problem is that each Gospel has its own interpritation of his mission, making it easy for someone to abuse the word.

If read in context, there is no conflict in the message of Jesus. Each writer wrote from a different point of view, and Jesus' parables are fairly easy to discern. If read out of context (i.e. isolation of verses), there certainly can appear to be conflicts, but such is the case with nearly any lenghthy piece of writing...

Yeah, I don't remember them actually teaching much of anything about Martin Luther the man, other than he went against the Catholics.
