Well, that may be true, but he wrecked many a "pagan" temple during his conquest. And there was no gold inside the temples. Like it or not, that's how Mexico is Catholic.

From what I remember, he may not have been all that interested in the God part, but I think he did his own share of "converting." There is that 1st person account of one of the guys with him, however accurate that is.
