Well, technically, the E-E...

Spoiler
destroys a TON of ISD's and other craft by itself, the Empire keeps sending more (thousands) and they seperate the saucer section, sending the engineering section with the self destruct on to wipe out the rest of the fleet. Yup, entire sector fleet other than the Command ship destroyed! I didn't think the E-E could even seperate the saucer... (after all, wasn't the point of seperating the saucer to protect the civies on board the E-D... and since there are no more civies onboard... what's the point?).

The ONLY thing he gives the Empire is superior industrial capacity.

- The Force doesn't work on anyone from the Trek galaxy, period.
- turbolasers are lasers+plasma, and the plasma just barely damages shields
- Imperial shields are pretty much useless against trek weapons.
- Imperials can't aim (I guess because they aren't using Feddie computers to target? He thinks that Wars are all human targetted)
- Hyperdrive is straight line only.
- Trek ships have superior battle tactics and superior sub-light speed. Hyperdrive is only equivalent to warp 9.2.

A personal favorite of mine was the claim that the Empire isn't advanced enough to have computers that respond to verbal commands.

I wonder why George Lucas never showed us the people who were undoutably standing just off screen, typing into a computer everything the characters said so that R2 and 3PO could use this to understand them?

Plus the idea that Imperial technology has the same weaknesses as the Federation, such as being unable to detect ships above the poles of planets, but the Imperials have no idea these weaknesses exist.

And let's not even get started on how the Emperor was fooled by the old "look out behind you" trick.

Let's face it. The biggest problem is not the tech part, it's the fic. The plot is boring "Watch Trek beat Wars" with boring action, and...nothing else. The Imperial characters are 1 dimensional. There's no drama at all.

We should show the n00bs the Portal parody RayCav wrote for us. Classic, as long as the porn fanfic is not mentioned.

It's much like Star Destroyers Rampant, but if anything it's even more lopsided. Granted, it doesn't do things like "Now let's copy-paste something out of Mike Wong's fanfic, while laughing at everyone who may happen to be a Trekkie," but I find the two of comparable levels of creative ineptitude.

Something else to consider.

Even if Trek characters were immune to the Force being used directly on them (mind control, lightning, etc) , they certainly wouldn't be immune to a physical blow from Force-enhanced strength or or be able to counter Force-enhanced reflexes.

The Emperor may have looked old and gnarly, but there's no reason to believe that he couldn't temporarily enhance his own speed and strength to levels that Worf (let alone Troi) couldn't match.

Can something like this be anything else than the spawn of Satan himself? Anyways, the head exploding smilie expresses my thoughts about the fic pretty well. My god can someone really be that biased SoB? Even if i could ignore the unbelievable bias towards ST in the fic, i still have a lot better things to read like the HH books, Star Crossed, NJO etc. etc. Portal is at best, very bad waste of time.

Yes.

The spawn of Horus himself.

Or possibly Abaddon and a daemonette.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm coming to read The Fall of Reach again, to try and purge Portal from my memories.

I just read "Portal". Jesus...must, read, StarCrossed...NOW!

Not ONLY was that horrible in terms of firepower etc. But the plot, CRAP. Storyline, CRAP.

I could barely read it sometimes, I could forgive the technical errors if the writing was REALLY good...in the lines of better than Stravo. But that is some of the WORST writing I have ever laid eyes on. He should hang his head in shame and burn that story for the horrible writing style he put in there. I mean, Christ. He blew up Mars, and spent about 3 sentances on it! Not only that it was so sudden! Jesus Christ I've seen 7 year olds who can write a better story than that!

Or more to the point, the Emperor sits on his throne while these strange criters march up to him totally immune to the force. What ever shall he do? Well how about ripping support beams down (with the Force) and using them to smack their fucking brains out?

Nope, definately, I can't pass the first chapter. The characters are all so... out of character...

Does anyone has confirmation on some rumours (heard it a while ago), claiming that he wrote Portal just to piss-off SW fans?

It isnt really that bad.

As bad fanfic goes it is no-ware near as bad as some of the stuff I've read.

At least it is grammatically correct & has mostly good spelling IIRC. However the Characterisation did strike me as being very weak(but hey it was a trek fanfic, I didnt expect it to have strong Characterisation)

Having said that, it was a crap fanfic.

Ignoring the problems with how it depicting Startrek & starwars as it did, it had lots of technical issues in how it was written. And the dialog wasnt very good from memory. I've been spoiled by good dialog from a bunch of fanfic Authors who I regularly read their works, so I can no longer stand crappy dialog. And I hate it when an Author writes in an accent, I have problems hearing that, and reading it is even worse (damn learning difficulties)
