CNN will broadcast CPL

Post by Ace Pace »

CNN and a bunch of other TV networks will broadcast the summer CPL YAY! Too bad its CS :(
The Cyberathlete Professional League has sent out a list of prospective television coverage for its upcoming Pentium 4 Processor Summer 2003 Championship event. Well, uh, here's the list!
» ABC - World News Tonight with Peter Jennings - confirmed
» WB - stations across the US - confirmed
» CNN - National and International - confirmed
» Nickelodeon Games and Sports (GAS) - confirmed
» Gamer.tv / G4 - confirmed
» Tech TV - confirmed
» A Life in Video Games (Australia) - confirmed
» Local Dallas Television Stations - confirmed
» Game Show Network (Los Angeles) - unconfirmed
» ABC - Good Morning America - unconfirmed
It's always nice to see the CPL get some mainstream coverage, since the efforts of the CPL and CAL form a very major part of the Counter-Strike community. I know that I probably wouldn't be a big fan of CS without CAL.
Edit: forgot to mention, its from csnation

CS would be fun to watch, but ever since I got into TrueCombat, I've started hating not having an iron-sights aim.

Well it isn't like they're going to cover much else.

CS has over 100k people playing it at a time, and the next closest game has below 10k players at any one time. Essentially, CS is the backbone of the CPL.

If it's anything like how CAL CS is, it'll be boring. Everyone would be whoring awp and deagle after the first few rounds, abusing the use key exploit.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

You know what's great about LAN tournies? Well, not great. Actually, extremely sad. Anyways, actually hearing someone say what they usually type:

I heard a guy say "Shock Whore!" at a UT2k3 tourny. Had to have been the funniest thing ever as I spit Dr. Pepper all over my keyboard I was laughing so hard.

Thank God I don't play UT anymore.

I think that exploit is banned at the CPL

Also where do you see that? CAL-I matchs are entertaining and most teams have a strategy that sometimes does not include a AWP
