fun, fun
I just helped my dad carry a one hundred pound computer desk up a narrow (probably like 2-3 feet at the most) stairway into my room. Actually, it was more him pulling and me pushing to keep the damn thing from falling down on me. Also add in him saying everyword in the book and me praying to every deity in exitence that I don't wind up with "he was killed by a desk" on my tombstone.
To add to this "fun", the desk actually started to come apart. First two of the wheels, then the shelfs, which allowed the keyboard sliding tray and the door that covers that.
Right now, I'm sitting in my room, sweat running down my face. My Thrall and Belldandy action figures are standing proudly on top of my desk and my spike necklance with Meryl keychain attach to it is hanging from my desk too.
Sadly, my dad hurt his shoulder.
Anyways, after bringing it up, I went down to bring the computer up and hook it all up while he ran the phone line and extention cord from my parents room to mine. (the phone jack in my room was destroyed by the people who used to live here before us)
So, how was your day?

Did I mention my dad had a mild heart attack about 5 years ago? What is friggin amazing though is the fact that he calmly woke my mom up, told her, then went down stairs, put on his work uniform. Then he smoked a cig, drank a cup of coffee then drove himself and my mom to the hospital. He did the exact samething years later when he got a piece of rust in his eye. Fuck, he's had one of his eyeballs pop out, (he was trying to put one of those car seat covers in his car (duh) and the hook nailed him in the face) he popped it back in, walked calmly back inside the house, told everyone and I forget what he did after that.
This guy is hardcore. Only the deaths of his two brothers and the announcement that my grandma is going to die soon has actually broken him down to tears.

I didn't try to kill myself or my dad. My day sucks next to yours.

The HAB should like my dad. He was in 'Nam, not as a soldier, but as a mechanic. (so I guess he was in the Engineering Corp) He got to work on everything from jeeps to a few tanks.
The funny thing with his is, he quit school in the 7th grade and is smarter than me in the realm of math and other things.

He's got lung cancer, sadly. Speaking of lungs, he only has half a long on his right side. His lung collapsed decades ago and they had no choice but to operate and remove half of it. I've inherited his tallness and fast metabloism. (we both weight somewhere in the hundred pound range and yet are skinny)
The saddest thing I've heard about him was back when one of his brothers commited suicide. Someone from the hospital (my aunt, I believe) called and told us what happened and said he was in the OR. Fifteen minutes later, she called back and told my dad (he stuck to the phone like glue) that their brother had died. I was in the kitchen (I was about age 8.) and saw my dad collapse. (my brothers were standing close by and they had to rush in to catch him) At the funeral, he was so upset, that my uncles had to take him to another part of the funeral home to try and calm him down.
Then, years later, when my uncle Roger died. He did the exact samething, just more of it. The spooky thing with that is that my dad told my mom that the night Roger died, he heard what sounded like someone knocking three times on the wall downstairs. I was upstairs though. He says that was god letting him know what had happened.
You'd think god would've phoned or sent snail mail, instead of doing freaky like that.

Well, I woke up, and my friend came over. We did Jack shit at my house, and then went across the community to another friend's house, and promptly did Jack Shit there (Walking to that kid's house is a chore, a mile in the heat and sun of South Florida wearing two layers of t-shirts and long pants is a bit uncomfortable, and you sweat quite a bit.) We hung out there a bit, walked back to my house, did nothing, walked to his house, did nothing, walked to my house, did nothing, and then I walked him back to his house. Gotta love this fucking empty-ass town.
