Considering the awesome use of fuel that will be involved, ships will be limited to an extremely limited number of jumps before the need to refuel.Yet,why do we not see this phemonena? The ISD is supposed to be capable of carrying 3 years worth of supplies on board. Can this be feasible,if the mechanism for deccelerating/accelerating the ship is indeed the humble Ion drive?
You're an idiot. The hyperdrive had to be fixed by Artoo in ESB before the huge jump could be made--engagement of such a system w/out hyperdrive would've put them out of reach of the Executor, but it is clear such a thing could not happen, and canonically does not happen, without a hyperjump, therefore, the logical conclusion is that the acceleration is a side-affect of the hyperjump, and caused by the hyperdrive.

Uh, the same way Saxton does, the ion drives were left to push them a great distance? They're capable of moving the Death Star rapidly, and exiting an atmosphere in seconds. Why wouldn't they work? You have no data on the distance between the Avenger trash-drop and Bespin, so shut the fuck up with yet another of these tiring Brownian-esque theories that bash the EU for sake of while introducing totally useless and redundent explanations that create needless contradictions.
Occam's Razor leaves the most logical explanation: the acceleration/deacceleration is always co-incident with the hyperjump and is a sideaffect of the transition to and from hyperspeed caused by the hyperdrive. Your "sublight drive" is totally unneccessary.
