my apologies, that really sucks.
The worst I've ever been pissed off (that I can remember) was when I had to drive this kid home from work (I manage at a place which shall remain unnamed)
15 year old kid, working, you would think he has a few shreds of common sense, maybe intellect, and maybe, just maybe, a sense of direction?
It basically boils down to this:
He only knew his way home as "Left, right, straight for a bit, then left again."
When I tried driving a faster way(still only using major routes, something everyone knows since they are 5), he got totally lost and confused. He also didn't even know his street name.
Pathetic loser! This happened 6 freaking months ago and I'm stll pissed off at it!

That sucks, I often had arguments with my dad in the past, but luckily he wasn't as irrational about it.
The thing I fear most are his jokes, especially when my girlfriend is there.

Beware of one's old man's jokes. They are worse then the jokes of your coworkers and boss.

A few yars ago, when I was 14, my Dad was about 35, I bought a friend over to my Dad's house. Later on my Dad tackled him, and farted on his head.

That's my Dad's typical humour.

I learned never to get into political discussions with my extended family. And yet sometimes one of them will say something so absurd I have to reply, to my great sorrow, forty minutes of yelling later.

First of all, I just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry I got to this late and all. That really sucks when one thing after another happens to agitate and frustrate you. *hugs*

Yeah, he was taken to the hospital to be prudent, I'm pretty sure he's stable- well, if nothing's changed since several hours ago :?

My granddad is getting tests tommorow- I'm gonna go see him then, see what's up- I don't know what's going on, there's fluid in his lungs or something. He's very old. And I speak really crappy Greek and his English is nonexistent, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do when I go see him. I hate hospitals.

Hope it gets better for him, usually just being there is plenty enoguh.

Talking is icing, for most the simple fact someone is there and cares enough to be there is all they want or need.

And I hate hospitals as well...something about them, I suppose.

Fortunately, my parents and I are pretty much on the same page when it comes to politics and religion. I know my mom's fairly agnostic, and I have no clue what, if anything, my dad believes. Both are left-leaning like myself, though I tend to be moreso. I can't ever recall having a political argument with my dad (he could care less). The only issues I've argued with mom over are drug legalization (I'm mostly pro, she's totally anti), the death penalty (I'm totally opposed, she isn't) and some other minor social issues.

Where my aggravation really comes in is discussing my life with her. Mom has always quite pushy with my brother and I in terms of us following the path she thinks best. This first came to a boil when I was in college and decided I did not want to go to graduate school right away, which she thought was a forgone conclusion. The row we had over that was pretty intense.

The other issue that is ongoing is dealing with my sexuality, which she is still in quasi-denial about (but she took well on the surface). She still makes allusions to me marrying my old high school girlfriend, whom I still see regularly, and having kids. I finally let her know how much this insult me, and she dismissed it with a comment that "I can dream, can't I?" I don't know if she realized how much that hurts. I told her no, she couldn't dream, and she said I couldn't control her dreams, like she was a pouting 8-year-old. Of course, she finishes with her placating line, "all I want is for you to be happy." Yeah, thanks, ma. We'll see what you say about that the first time I bring home a guy.

All I can say about my dad is that he tends to live in his own little world and blithely lets other things just go. That's cool, for the most part, but I wish he'd make more of an effort to reign in mom when she's acting like a lunatic.

I got into an argument with my brother on hitlers election, and Nazi Germany.

He still seems to think that Hitler was lected by the majority f the population, and that all Germans are Nazis...

I tried to correct him on this, and he said "You dont know what you are talking about" Naturally I corrected him saying " I speak German, I take classes that deal with German history that you never took(drop out) and know and talk to many germans, who know their own hstory"

He then told me " I am bigger, I am right you are wrong, now shut up" and left the room...

hehe... I think he finds it insulting that his 6 year old brother is more highly educated than him, and that this 16 year old is just going into his senior year.... hehe

I also find it funny that my 43 year old mother usually defers to the knowledge of her 16 year old son when it comes to world events, science, and politics....

Oh the benifits of soaking up information like a freaky sponge of knowledge...

Vympel, you must learn to laugh. Loudly, very loudly. Like when he starts doing that shit, you begin laughing at how stupid he his. "You crack me up!" and smile a lot and all that. That should get to him.

Don't "fume" when you're angry, because that only makes you a better target.

You want red? Here's one for you; theUSN owes me about $1600 in travel money. It was supposed to be recieved last month.

I go down to disbursing today, and it's one of 6 travel claims sitting on the guy's desks (out of and original 30 or so). All the others have been done for awhile, but he had questions about thise.

Oh yeah, and we were at sea all week last week, and he couldn't bring himself to call/walk one flight of stairs and ask me about the issue with my travel claim.

You don't know red.

Sounds kinda like the unwritten rule of arguing with my dad. If I can't understand what the hell he's ranting about I'm stupid, and if he can't understand what I'm saying or doesn't want to listen to my points I'm being illogical and stupid. Makes things real fun when he, a near computer illiterate has trouble using the computer and fucks things up and then argues with me on how to fix it. I've been using computers for a long time and will soon have a degree in Computer Science.

My Dad and I disagree on Politics too.
I was of the opinion that the US should have made its move to rule the world in 1945, when no other nation had the bomb. Think about it, Russia was reeling from WW2, a nuclear attack on Moscow would have decapitated them. And a centralized organization like the Soviet Union couldn't really function well without the Leadership in Moscow. That means Russia doesn't have the resources to develop the bomb, won't be able to give it to China. With Russia out of the way, we don't have to comply with any of Roosevelt's commitments at Yalta. We could have easily installed Pro-American governments in Germany and areas formerly occupied by Germany.
France welcomed us as liberators, Britain is friendly anyway.
All that's left to deal with is the colonies.

Dad says "We don't have the right to force our culture on others. What works for us might not work for them."
I ask you all, what the hell is American culture? Last time I checked, America wasn't exclusively inhabited by White European Protestants. We have people from Eastern Europe, Russia, pretty much every nation in Asia, people from all parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. Which particular culture is unable to survive under American government? I know someone's probably going to say "The Native Americans" but we didn't exactly accept them as citizens. We just exiled them to shitty reservations.
