I dunno. It just sounds to American/corny to me.Alyeska wrote:I am wondering why no one else has chosen Enterprise. And before you say you don't like Star Trek or anything, my reason for choosing the name had nothing to do with Star Trek, more then half my ship name choices came from US navy ships. The Enterprise was the most decorated US ship of the war and saw the most action. I mean I see all these other ship names because of WW2 connections, seems every single ship except the Enterprise that is.

I'd like to build a class of ultimate CGN's named:
Ebola Reston
Ebola Zaire
Ebola Sudan
Marburg
Entebbe
The ultimate flagship, which would lead this force, would be an upgrade of my Kirov II, its name
Mount Elgon
Anyone care to guess what book I just finished?

The first time I heard of its was when my High school biology teacher, also former US Army medical tech and virus nut decide that he was going to read some chapters of it to the class while we studied virus.. The descriptions of many things and his additional side commentary, did not go over well with some people, and the class was right after lunch..Stormbringer wrote:And proving further that the best stories are true. Excellent book, borrowed it from my teacher and had returned it finished the next class.Alyeska wrote:Aye, and it is a very good book, and even scary considering that its entirely true.
I soon after obtained a copy for me self, and recently decided to reread it.

True, but rather go with Ticonderoga or Valle Forge for American Naval type thing. Can also go with Trafalga or Jutland for and English. So many battles to choose from to name ships.Alyeska wrote:I am wondering why no one else has chosen Enterprise. They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

It is not well for one to trifle in the affairs of the ancient Chinese generals, for they have a tendency to send armies of tens of thousands of warriors after those who challenge them.

Enterprise was also the name of an HMS explorer ship, before it became an American Aircraft Carrier. It is also the name of the Space Shuttle prototype.

Then there's the one I had for the Star Wars rpg I was in, where I had an MC-90 class cruiser named 'Defier', VSD 'Rising Victory', and the ISD 'Dimensia'. oooh, what a task force.
