What's wrong with that picture?
Why should we have rushed into World War One? It was a European clusterfuck that never needed to happen; it was an international pissing match nothing more. To most of us, World War Two was no different until December 7th. Of course we had been escorting ships and taking losses before that.

Of course the French hardly rushed to support our Revolution. They were willing to let us get crushed until we proved we had a shot. And even then they took their damn time to intervene. I'd call it even at this point for those keeping score.

Psh.. WWI we saved their ass, WWII we saved their ass, Vietname war we bailed them out..
Err... OK. You did jack for them in Vietnam. They left, you made a monstrous cock up of the whole thing (admittedly so did they) for years afterwards.

Yes, WWI, America immediately rushed to help in 1914. And in WWII, again, more prompt help from the US in 1939.

You mean, just like the French rushed to our aid in 1775?

The idea of gratitude between nations is ridiculous. Nation states are not people. They have interests, not emotions, and right now French and American interests clash so relations are rather cool. And whoever said the French and the American people don't like each other because they both have gigantic egos is pretty much on target. Of course, one of us is a Socialist blowhole that hasn't won a war on its own since Joan of Arc pulled Charles VII's balls out of the vice that's still crying about being reduced to a second rate world power by its own poor judgement (*cough*Rhineland*cough*), and one of us is the world's only superpower, so perhaps one of us doesn't have quite as much reason to have a big ego as the other, but I digress.

What, the original Bastille Day or the celebration in Philadelphia. At the time of the original, I was random scattered bits of carbon and water, and today I had a dentist's appointment.

The last war which France won on its own was the 2nd(?) danube campaign against Austria.

Exactly, so please stop harping on about how you rescued them, and they should be licking your boots for the next 9e99999999 years over it.

Just for fun, when did America last win a war on it's own, with no allies at all? Without including civil war.

I'm not one of those that thinks the French owe us some grand debt. I do take some pride in the fact that the US did so much to liberate Europe but I don't think the French should be our bitches because of that.

But I do think that the French need to look ally up in the dictionary as they've never been very good ones.

Spanish-America War was the last one of major note. Plus countless Banana Wars and small scale wars in the Third World since then.
