Regarding Storm troopers...
While I was cruising starwars.com this afternoon, I happened to read some biographical information on Clone troopers, ARC troopers, and Storm troopers. It was clearly stated that ARC troopers are not genetically identical to the clones en masse, but it did not clearly state if the Storm troopers of the original trilogy are exact copies of the clones in the army of the Republic.
When I read that Lucasfilm may re-release the OT when all is said and done so that the voices of all the Stormies sound like Jango Fett, I'm led to believe that they're the same. Can anyone confirm or deny that the Storm troopers of OT are exact copies of the Clone troopers in AOTC?
Thanks in advance,

According to the novel (or the screenplay) in scenes, that were never in the movie Luke is talking with Biggs about going to the Academy and Biggs comments, that the empire started to recruit/shanghai people from the academy for its military forces. This suggests a civilian institution.
And even if, officers go to an academy, Stormtroopers wouldn´t, especially if they are all clones.

It is unlikely that all the Stormtroopers are clones. It is almost certain that they are not Kaminoan-style Jango clones. (Anyone has yet to provide a shred of proof that GL intends to edit Jango's voice and the OT Stormies).
We know that several years before Yavin, during the subjugation of Kashyyyk, that no less than 40% of Stormtroopers came from a single clone line.
These new "GeNodes" were quite different in synthesis and in training than Kaminoan-style clones.
However, we know that Kyle Katarn, Davin Felth, and others were involved in the Stormtroopers. The Imperial Sourcebook specifies that exceptional soldiers will be recruited in to the Stormtroopers, but they will, by and large, continue to be procured in the "usual" fashion.

Since Jango died in AotC, the later empire had to search for new donators for its clones, if it didn´t abandon the practice totally because of the costs and efforts connected to cloning. Those clones we see during the early years might be nothing more than left-overs from the very beginning.
I´ve heard, that the actor of Jango Fett is not only giving his voice for a make-up of the OT, but also the the special-effects-people are working on replacing the rl-actors in the stormtrooper-suits with GCI to give them the same height and stature. I only hope this stays a rumor.
And my main point wasn´t the stormtroopers being clones or not, but that some sources suggest the existance of a Stormtrooper-academy.

Reverent apologies
Hallowed patrons od SD.net,
Having withstood your voracious poking, I say that it was not my intent to stir the hornets nest of older threads, but it remains an unlikely possibility that I will read the thousands of back-posts contained on this site.
By the by, how long must I be a member so as to no longer be a target for pokes?

Many, if not most Stormtroopers, are clones. There are also specially-selected recruits.
The end.
The end.

The old clones probably died off. I think the Empire kept the cloning machines running.Kurgan wrote:Also, if the clone troopers have age accelerated to double normal, wouldn't they be in (the equivalent) of their 60's by the time of the classic trilogy?
Clones like that would only be useful half as long as "normal" recruits or conscripts.

The GeNodes are not Kaminoan or Spaarti-type clones. The Empire simply has new and different cloning vats later to keep up.Kurgan wrote:Also, if the clone troopers have age accelerated to double normal, wouldn't they be in (the equivalent) of their 60's by the time of the classic trilogy?

Didnt the thrawn series state some where that cloneing was a lost technology and the clone master were killed in the clone wars and their facilities destroyed. Thrawns facilities were the last in the galaxy. Oh and I remember that planet that duron destroyed was a storm trooper training facility and his brother was on the planet. Wouldnt this suggest that after the clone wars clones were no longer used.

Thrawn never said all the clones were destroyed, and even so, is not privy to the Emperor's cloning facilities, likely in the Deep Core.Hasler wrote:Didnt the thrawn series state some where that cloneing was a lost technology and the clone master were killed in the clone wars and their facilities destroyed. Thrawn was the empire at this point and he had use of all the empires little secrets. I belive it was luke or one of the other rebels that said all the cloneing facilities were destroyed in the clone war. Plus they have a whole planet dedicated to storm trooper training. In the thrawn trilogy they were pretty much comming out trained so why would a training planet be nessisary if they were clones the whole times.

Thrawn was a military dictator who controlled only what Palpatine allowed him to control. The most valued commanders and ships were with Palpatine in the Deep Core, with his secrets, including Clone Vats, shipyards, superweapons, the World Devestators, and Palpatine's clones themselves.
Thrawn was never in total control. The Dark Empire Sourcebook indicates that Rukh learned of Thrawn's treachery because of the manipulation of Palpatine's agents (it explicitly states that Thrawn died as a result of Palpatine's wishes, and I can think of no other way that's possible).
Luke never knew about the fact most of the Empire's Stormtroopers were clones, nor did he or anyone else know about the location of the GeNode's facilities.
Carida is an ancient martial planet and historical military academy that is the basis for the Empire's training programmes. Army officers and troopers recieve training there, and there are non-clone Stormtroopers that require training. As well, there's no reason that clone Stormtroopers don't also need training.
