That site really puts into perspective how much better looking the TOS movie-era Starfleet ships were compared to the TNG-onward designs.

Not bad!
There are some interesting ships there, although I agree that the nacalle configuration of some of the 4-nacelle is just plain ugly.
Still, that USS Wolf (NX-75984) is interesteing. Methinks that someone is either a fan of the ST-TOS graphic novel 'Debt of Honour' or is a WCIII fan.
My favorite is the USS Peregrine. I actually think that it is logical the the Federation might have tried to create a directly reverse-engineered copy of the Romulan BoP in the belief that it had certain stealth or performance characteristics that gave it an advantage in covert ops.

If Starfleet builds a ISD rival, thats what it should look like. Retro, but with a serious 'dont f**k with me' look.
Voyager summed up in 1 quote:
Neelix: These people dont appreciate what they have! This ship is the match of anything in a hundred lightyears, yet what do they do with it?
(fake voice) Oh, well lets go find some space anomaly today that'll rip it apart!

Looks very piscine, if that's the word I'm looking for, I quite liked a couple of bits and pieces on the Excelsior variants, namely the saucer-stardrive linking sections, but the rest of the excelsior hulls were pretty awful.
And I do like the saucer and hull on that diplomatic cruiser, but the nacelles have no need of being there, two would have worked, or even four if they were on an ordinary angle.

I don't think that's quite the word you were looking for. Piscine is the adjective for "fish like."The_Lumberjack wrote:Looks very piscine, if that's the word I'm looking for,
I agree. I didn't much care for the destroyer, either, or the "Edmund Fitzgeral" class.I quite liked a couple of bits and pieces on the Excelsior variants, namely the saucer-stardrive linking sections, but the rest of the excelsior hulls were pretty awful.
I thought some of the designs were cool, but a few of them missed.

Rodenbery supposedly stated that nacelles must always come in pairs, with at least 50% of their surface in direct line-of-sight with each other.
While noone involved with Voyager had much interest in continuity, that would explain why the nacelles had to swing up for warp flight.
But it sure in the HELL doesn't explain why they had to pivot down to the horizontal in the first place!
Really dig the pre-TOS model, BTW. That site isn't your average kitbash horror fest.

I think piscine was the word I was looking for actually, maybe its just the secondary hull and the camera angle, but I get a strong fishy vibe from it, now I think about it, it looks a little like a Dauntless Cruiser from SW:Supremacy but with Star Trek bits on it.
