That's it? There's no other thing you have to do? Wasn't there user profiles or something like that in one of the system panels?

I have a question: How do you completely eliminate a user account from XP Pro?
Control Panel -> User Accounts
Or if you feel the need to use cool dos commands.

In a command session type "net user username /delete"

That does it too. I love the XP dos-y thing. It's not dos, but its pretty close.

It is easy to delete the profile.

Open explorer under "Documents and Settings" you find all the profiles, just don't delete the wrong one ;)

You're wrong. PotC is just Sea Dogs 2 with a new name. It was developed for the PC first, like Morrowind. After that, it was commissioned for the X-Box. Unless I miss my guess, PotC uses the same engine as Morrowind, which means that it was developed with the PC in mind. It's a grotesque system hog, but it is beautiful.

Erm....yeah. Thats it. ;) What, were you expecting it to be something complicated?

Speaking of which, that reminds me of an age old rant I have against WinXP's user control panel. The only two types of users you have to choose from are admins or "limited" (basically, a typical user account). Its a real pain in the ass because I actually need to be able to create a "Power User" account, and they dropped that with XP. In 2k and NT you could create them.

Power Users still exist in WindowsXP. Learn the art of the Computer Management system, not the weak User Control Panel. And if it didn't exist, make one! Group and Local Policies exist for a reason!

That is the improper method of deleting profiles. You should use the System Control Panel to delete them if possible.

Actually, the NT command shell is much more powerful than the old DOS command interpreter.

Thank you! My mother just fucked up her computer (what a suprise) and guess who's job it is to make everything right..... I'm revoking her admin priviliges ASAP.

If you don't trust your mother, get into Group/Local Policies and start revoking rights. Start using ACLs to lock the machine down as well. These tools are comprehensive and will go far to making it nigh-impossible to screw up the machine.

Thing is, she's not as bad as she used to be. A few years ago, she used to be really paranoid about using it. After she toasted a motherboard by contracting a virus that wiped the BIOS chip (and lost two years worth of pictures we've taken with the digital camera....) because she kept running these joke exe files (which I told her time and time again not to do.....and I reminded her of that fact when she got bit). Now the only thing she screws up is a setting here or there in Mozilla or the like. (which is why I was hesitant of revoking rights until now) I don't know what the hell she's done this time, but somehow she's screwed up her admin profile to where no browser will run, and everything takes FOREVER to load. I scanned for virii and spyware. None to be found. I already neutered any un-necessary services the day I installed XP and try to keep it up to date on updates from MS. I don't want to bump her down to "User" because she'll be calling me ever 5 seconds to have me enter the admin password just so she can do something. This is why I'm bumping her down to Power User.

Dammit, why don't you have ICQ (or atleast an open source ICQ client)? :P

So, you had your mom on as an admin?

EDIT: How do you block off the windows folder for users (not admins) but still let Windows run normally? It seems that when I do that, it even blocks the system from accessing the windows files it needs to run under that user.

Can't recall. SYSTEM at least should be granted full access.

Why does she need any admin rights at all? What does she do that cannot be done as User?

ICQ == teh sucky. GAIM on Win32 is kinda buggy, too. (I use it whenever I need multiclient support)
