What the fuck?!? Where does this farraday come up with this line. They seemed half way intelligent up until now. Where's the proof the DS I could NOT fire on capital ships with it's main beam? Hell, the prototype could. The second Death Star could. So why in the hell would the first one NOT? That and the coral skippers outclass TIEs? Not bloody likely. These are the same TIEs that were giving X-Wings the loop.

The Guide to the Deasthstar (WEG) states that the DS1 could not fire on capital ships, it lacked the aiming mechanism and that it could not regulate the power of its beam to allow it to fire more than once every 16 hours or something like that.

DSII was an improvement in that it could target capital ships and that it could regulate the power to the beam allowing it to fire many times at a weaker setting before recharging.

The turbolaser batteries were designed against Capital ships. Remeber Dodonna: "The outer defense was designed against a large scale assault."
The superlaser was not an issue in an assault by capital ships, the turbolasers on the surface would have taken care of them.

Also in the Rebellion era sourcebook (WEG) it states that Ackbar contemplated crashing the few capital ships the rebellion had into the DS1 taking it out if the fighter attack failed. If the super laser could target capital ships this would not be a viable plan.

Let me get this straight:

DSII could fire at capital ships, the prototype at the maw could fire at capital ships and just because WEG claims DSI CAN`T fire at capital ships???

Of course then the Executor is eight kilometers long, DSI has a diameter of 120 kilometers, the AT-AT is 15 meters high ...

And what do you expect from a person, that thinks ISDs are as vulnerable as present-day aircraft-carries to fighters?

The Death Star I could wipe out an entire fleet with its superlaser in one shot. Just fire at the nearest planet.
