Why was a BDZ never ordered on Dathomir?
If Palpatine thought the Nightsisters were such a threat, why did he not order a BDZ on it? Was he hoping to recruit new Dark Jedi even at the risk of keeping Nightsisters around?

That´s what I figured. Its a large pool of dark-side talent to tap into.

Plus Darksiders have been known to pool their power and reak havoc on ships. Not to mention with an attack, they might mind-trick some shuttle pilot to drop down during the attack and give them a lift.

That can be avoided, but you're right, there IS the possibility.Illuminatus Primus wrote:Plus Darksiders have been known to pool their power and reak havoc on ships. Not to mention with an attack, they might mind-trick some shuttle pilot to drop down during the attack and give them a lift.
I agree with Trytostaydead, they are a lot of talent to tap into.

The talent pool best serves that thought.
Palpatine saw quick easy Sith Babes, who have gifts with the Force...are probably quite malleable, and have basic Sith/Jedi skills but no real refinement(well most of them).
Hell if nothing else...breeding stock as well.

Re: Why was a BDZ never ordered on Dathomir?
It seems that the only one the Emporer saw as a threat was the leader of the nightsister clan, Gethzerion. Once he found out about her he had the prison's airfield blasted to keep her on Dathomir. Without Gethzerion the Nghtsisters were just a scattered group of outcasts. She started the Nightsister clan, she used them to tempt others into using the Dark Side in order to increase their ranks, and she was the one that was trying to take over the entire planet using the left over Imperials as her lackys.Trytostaydead wrote:If Palpatine thought the Nightsisters were such a threat, why did he not order a BDZ on it? Palpie was sexist and felt that if they would to be set loose, they would become angered and possibily become a threat. It also seems that this would be symbolic, as the Emperor is prone, of the Emperor's anti-femisim campaigns. He removed Caasmas to destroy pacificm, Endor was to destroy the fires of Rebellon, slavery was to crush non-human relations, and the Jedi purge was to remove his "religious" enemys form history. Why not have one to remove femisim?

I'm not amking shit up. Palpitine was very grandous and I don't see why this is unreasonable. He personally wanted to command the fleet that would remove the Rebels. If he wasn't over the top, why did he not just send his SD's to rmove the fleet a Sullest? He could manuplate the media very well and was able to cover up a graet many really large things. I don't see how Doothmair could be anything other than symbolic to him. They were out of the way and were cut off. There was no real need other than personal reasons.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Don't just make shit up, perpetual n00b...

Because they'd simply jump to hyperspace, disperse and escape with minimal losses.Admiral Johnason wrote:I'm not amking shit up. Palpitine was very grandous and I don't see why this is unreasonable. Then he could have brought in indicators to stop that and called in hundreds of SDs or dreadnoughts. The point is is that the Emperor could have removed the Rebellion thenm and there. They knew in advace where the Rebel fleet was and did nothing to stop them. Palpitine wanted to personally remove the Rebels. I only pointed out that he was prone to more grandous schemes and that Doothmair could have been one of those schemes. He wanted to make a symbol out of them.Sea Skimmer wrote:Because they'd simply jump to hyperspace, disperse and escape with minimal losses.Admiral Johnason wrote:I'm not amking shit up. "Doothmair"?
He had the airstrips destroyed to keep Gethzerion on the planet, because as a powerful Dark Side user, she was a possible threat to him. He didn't BDZ the planet because as the witches were Force users, he would have the option of making them Dark Side warriors (or whatever) under his control in the future if he so desired. So he didn't want to wipe them out completely.
Your invented sexism has nothing to do with it.

I can see where you are coming from, but the sexism is not invented. IN the Jedi Academy tri., it says Daala was held back because of the general turn towards sexism brought on by the Emperor.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:"Doothmair"?

The Dark Empire Tradepaper Back suggests Palpatine himself only had a prejudice against non-Force Users, and when it came to his personal use, would never turn down a great pawn. He used aliens like Thrawn and Maul, and used Mara and Shira Brie.
As for sexism and specieism, these were prevailing attitudes among many military elite and political and aristocratic elite at the time of his ascension. They were tools for oppressing minorities to win the benefit of the vast majority and break down the old order. All mere manipulation.
As for Force User recruitment, Palpatine would certainly hire women. This is supported. You are wrong.

And he certainly wouldn't do something purely as some kind of "symbolic gesture", as Perpetual N00b suggests out of his ass.

Why wasn't a BDZ ordered? Shitty writing of course. Asis Gethzerion beign an actual threat to a Sith Lord such as palpatine, the courthsip of Princess Leia was fucking worthless. Tamed Rancors and a planet full of force ssensitives in a era where Forces are supposed to be extinct. Hapan battle Dragons an their shitty TL technology in a galaxy where that TL tech is on sale to smugglers, pirates and civilian corporations but a very wealthy government cannot acquire them? Evne through a third party? Are they that inbred and isolated so that they can't send ssomeone to the Republic, have them learn to be an engineer so that they cant leanr the specifics of the fucking weapon? Also, how am I supposed to stand by any book with a thiny veiled Dr Suess reference. (theres no telling what you could do with a whuffa). ALso Jewels worth as much as a Star destroyer or Mon Cal cruiser? And the Hapans capturing so many star destroyers?
Well it is the EU and such its accepted so lets look at some shit I think.
#1- Perpetual Noob would indeed be an excellent title for the Admiral.
#2- Palpatine may have though there might be a use for the witches, not specifically Gethzerion but perhaps another, more nubile witch to bear him a son that he could transfer his essence into. Remember he was suffering from severe genetic decay due to his power and old age.
#3- Palpatine's Empire did have a bias against women, but there was no fear of feminism in the sense mentioned.
#4- Perhaps that Dathomir was slated to be the testbed for the Orbital Nightcloak prior to the battle of endor? Isolated sector like that would have been perfect, especially with the native vegetation.
#5- Davewolverton should be held in the same utter contempt as KJA
