True Story, Cosplay and Security

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Ok, I went with two of my friends, to a Sci-Fi and Anime con during spring Break, since it was in San Jose, We stayed at my mom's....

Bad Idea, we had to Chaperone my Teen sis and her friends who insisted on dressing up, as "Vampires".

Ken and Gary dressed up as MIB's, and I dressed up as Dim.

Well we are shopping and keeping the occassional eye on my sis and her pack when I saw they were running into trouble. A group of boys who were atleast two to three years older then the girls (all of the girls were 13-14). Now the con has a "No weapon's Policy", I am dressed as "Dim" the slow witted rapist thug, from "A Clockwork Orange", These boys are insisting that these young ladies perform certian "Sexual acts" for them, blocking the way, and out number the girls 2 to one.

I walk up, legally, I can't do jack shit to the boys. My costume features a belt made from linked chains locked in the front, with a heavy lock (Key is with Convention security) that is worn and used as a weapon by the Character. I simply project in my most threatening voice, to leave the women alone, or I might be forced to "Call up Me Droogs", strangely, 3 Alex's, another Dim, Frankenfurter, and a Borg show up behind me, and get the boys to scram....

I guess people who cosplay evil usually AREN"T

Now Irony is assisting an underaged female cosplayer in a problem of unwated sexually harrassining male attention while dressed up as a chraacter from "A Clockwork Orange"....

Damn, no weapons? If I was to ever go to an anime expo, I'd want to go in my airsoft gear
