US dependencies are American Samoa, Baker Island, Guam, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Midway Islands, Navassa Island, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Wake Island.darthdavid wrote:I say state hood or we sever all ties and let em be independant. Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Narvassa Island, and Palmyra Atoll do not have settlements and are typically uninhabited.
Johnston Atoll, the Midway Islands, and Wake Island are military/government bases with no indigenous inhabitants.
Kingman Reef is...a reef.

The Federated States of Micronesia*, the Republic of Palau*, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands* are "constitutional governments in free association with the US" (ibid.)
American Samoa*, Guam*, and the US Virgin Islands* are "organized, unincorporated territories of the US" (ibid.).

Puerto Rico is an interesting beast indeed. They seem to be the welfare whore of US overseas dependencies.
