Re: So, how many people here play paintball?
I have not played in a while, its too expensive for me now. Given a choice between skiing and paintball Id rather go skiing, although they are played at opposite times of the year.SpacedTeddyBear wrote:Well like the thread tittle says; How many people here play paintball?
A good day at paintball is fantastic, a bad day is really shitty. (Poor attitudes, cheating, etc. ) I got into a 1 on 1 shoot out with a guy up in "The Jungle" in Vallejo. After I got him he shook my hand and said that was fun. That is the kind of play I enjoy. Not the testosterone filled shouting matches that sometimes result.
I have a Tippman with a Flatline barrel.
My favorite field around tends to be either The Jungle or Bearcreek North, but they closed the field at Bearcreek. ( the one with the creek and bridge)
I went to highschool and middle school with the owner of Sunol Paintball, but its a speedball field and I dont like speedball at all. Plus its way to hot in Sunol to play paintball in an open field like that.
--- edit: Changed shoot my hand to shook my hand.

Hahaha! Ive played in the rain too. Not many people showed up so some of the games were real friendly and personal. Lots of mud, falling, slipping, it was great.Shinova wrote:I've only played once, and it was in the rain, with the ground all mud-slicked, the raindrops dribbling off your helmet and gun, and a light fog shrouding the enemy's base from sight.
It was awesome.![]()
And I got shot in the face too.

I might be interested in that if the guns didn't look so incredibly stupid, paintball guns look like paintball guns sometimes with a faint resemblance to the AUG, airsoft looks like bargain bin toys for six year olds.Trytostaydead wrote:I used to, until I found airsoft.

Are we talking about the same guns?! You mean the guns that look so realistic that cops have accidently shot people with them?Sea Skimmer wrote:I might be interested in that if the guns didn't look so incredibly stupid, paintball guns look like paintball guns sometimes with a faint resemblance to the AUG, airsoft looks like bargain bin toys for six year olds.Trytostaydead wrote:I used to, until I found airsoft.
The ones made out of steel?
The fact that if you put them side by side with real gun the only way you can really tell them apart is by inspection of the barrel?
Yep, once on my 15th birthday, it was great fun....till I had to pay for all the ammo I'd used.
Some trigger happy goon shot me in the chest within the surrender range. It was cool though, I had a bruise on the rib below my nipple for nearly 6 months, that was a good conversation starter.

That sounds like hella fun! Nothing like a wet, messy war game out in the woods!!Shinova wrote:I've only played once, and it was in the rain, with the ground all mud-slicked, the raindrops dribbling off your helmet and gun, and a light fog shrouding the enemy's base from sight.

Trench warfare is the toughest, even tougher in my opinion than CQB battles.
In trenches you have no idea what likes less than 10 feet in front of you and each corner is usually guarded. Also people will be coming in from on top of you. Scary shit.
The best tactic that I've always used in the trenches is speed. As soon as those whistles blow, quickly get in as far as you can to the place where the enemy least expects you.

Yeah, no rocket launchers or railguns..neoolong wrote:It's not like Quake.Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:I never did but I want to...
One of these days someone'll invent a Sniper Rifle rig for paintball, but it'll probly need to involve lengthening and rifling the barrel and putting a teflon driving band on the paintballs, not to mention the paintballs'll look more like short fat bullets and cost about twice as much per shot. Not that you'll be spraying shots everywhere anyway.

We have sniper rifles for airsoft.. generally in the 500-600fps range, bolt-action style if you wish.Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:

Cups a must I take it?Trytostaydead wrote:Airsoft is ALL about FULL-auto. Imagine hitting a guy on full auto at 10 feet at 400fps. BB's are small.. but do they fucking hurt, WEAR PROTECTION

I played paintball at ORMA last summer. Much fun playing in BDUs and stuff. After that, we went into the woods and my squad of about four (I was a SSG so I was technically the leader of them all) against a Marine and a couple Soldiers. Now that was fucking intense!

Cups would be nice.. though crotch shots rarely happen.
But yeah, if you're playing with a good airsoft group.. most of the people are army, marines, or cops. Hell, Pomona SWAT team uses airsoft for training, they open up their facilities once a week to the public (though it's now overrun by little kiddies).
One of airsoft's pluses is its uber-realism. BDU, LBVs, Helmets, Goggles, etc etc.

I used to play every once in a while but haven't in a long time. It's great fun and I usually do pretty well too. first time I played though, I got shot eight times in the head. The blue paint ran down my face making me look like a corpse. I guess I learned my lesson because the second time I played I didn't get hit once the whole day. And it wasn't for lack of trying. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
