The fields Ive played at are mostly standard capture the flag. At "the Jungle" after lunch they have a game where all the "amatuers" take on the resident pro team.

Its pretty fun, even if you get slaughterd. One day there was like 100 of us vs. 20 of them and we got wasted. However, it was one of the funnest games Id ever had.

Yeah, no rocket launchers or railguns..

One of these days someone'll invent a Sniper Rifle rig for paintball, but it'll probly need to involve lengthening and rifling the barrel and putting a teflon driving band on the paintballs, not to mention the paintballs'll look more like short fat bullets and cost about twice as much per shot. Not that you'll be spraying shots everywhere anyway. :)
Since you're not trying to hurt people, sorry to disappoint you :D , there is a limit to have fast you can hit someone.
I was thinking ~400FPS bullet speed. I'll probly MSPaint a rough schematic of the whole idea later.

The rest of the comics are pretty damn funny. Start at the beginning then work your way to the end.

Tippman 98 Custom, haven't found the time or money to upgrade it so I stick to the woody rec fields
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

I played paintball, but only once. I discovered a few things:
 1. A jean-jacket does a good job of absorbing the impact
 2. It's a boring game when people find hidey-holes and camp out in them for sniping.
 3. The low velocity of paintball rounds makes it very difficult to hit anything at range unless you bought one of those expensive high-velocity guns.
 4. Never go to a paintball arena in Detroit again. The ride to and from the place was terrifying, and we found ourselves wishing we had real guns.

Well, Einy, I've heard tell of people who've made rifles like you're discussing. I've also heard of all sorts of 'out-there' stuff, like paint shotguns and paint grenades. I even saw an ATV with a battery-powered paint gatling gun. :D

What's really neat, though, is military training stuff. It's not for civvy use, but they make rockets that spray paint, paint claymores, stuff like that.

It sorta does. Usually I play in just a black shirt in the summer, in the winter I usually where a vest. If you where somethign hard to take out the sting, you increase the chance of the ball breaking and being "out". A jean jacket usually marks you as a newbie. :P

[*]It's a boring game when people find hidey-holes and camp out in them for sniping.
Sometimes its bad, sometimes its fun to rush a fort. Depends on the game and how the management runs the field.
[*]The low velocity of paintball rounds makes it very difficult to hit anything at range unless you bought one of those expensive high-velocity guns.
You probably had beat up rental guns. All fields where I play limit every gun to shooting around 260-280 fps. They chrono you at the beginning of each game. So its not really about high-velocity as it is more well maintained equipment. Althought, a shitty entry level field gun is often a POS. Again, depends on field and management.

[*]Never go to a paintball arena in Detroit again. The ride to and from the place was terrifying, and we found ourselves wishing we had real guns.
If I ever take any advice from the board this will be it. I cant imagine playing there.
I did once. I'm very good at moving around quietly, and I 'killed' a number of my friend's with clean shots through the back.

The low velocity of paintball rounds makes it very difficult to hit anything at range unless you bought one of those expensive high-velocity guns.
Higher end guns allow you to shoot faster, and smoother. This usually gives the general impression that more expensive markers are more accurate. You have no idea how ignorant some people are when it comes to accuracy of paintball markers. You probably had a rental gun. Or worse, a Brass Eagle marker.
Never go to a paintball arena in Detroit again. The ride to and from the place was terrifying, and we found ourselves wishing we had real guns.

I'll take your advice.
Ein, I have a Tipp 98 with Flatline. The thing is accurate and the ball travels VERY long distances. It becomes the equivalent of the sniper rifle, though I prefer to be agressive, so it becomes a very accurate smg.

Simply spinning the barrel would be considerable more feasible and work about as well.

Thats my set up too. The thing is so long, I sometimes call it my "Kentucky Long Rifle", if I ever get back into playing Im going to drop the air tank below the grip for better balance and a shorter lenght.

Mainly Bearcreek. But there is a field at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds. It's all hyperball and speedball kind of stuff. A new field is going to open in Milpitas on Calaveras by the owners of Bearcreek. I don't know when though.
