Kamino in the Expanded Universe
Is there any EU novels, short stories, comics or computer games which provide us any information about Kamino (and its inhabitants) beyond what we know about it from the movies??
If so, can anybody provide a quick summary??

ICS Locations for Episode II has some data.
Its located 70,000 light years in a dwarf galaxy called the Rishi Maze, which is in a close orbit around the main SW galaxy. its population is 1 billion in a system with thirteen planets. It is a total water world though once had land and the weather we saw in ATOC is GOOD weather. In bad weather lightening can be seen from orbit and shield generators are needed to protect landed ships and the structures. Its main products are clones and lighter weapons. The capital city which Obi wan visited covered 93 miles. Apparently the inhabitants where and still are amphibians of some sort.

We saw one riding that flying/swiming beast without breathing equipment.

Maybe Kamino's atmosphere has some strange property that does that only particularly powerful lightning can be seen from orbit.darthdavid wrote:Um, Regular earth lightning can be seen from orbit .

The fact that the planet supported an atmosphere that Obi-Wan could breathe easily, and the apparent 1g that the planet was exerting, places it pretty close to Earth in terms of mass.

70,000 beyond the main galaxy, or 70,000 from the galactic centre (roughly 10,000 light years beyond the rim if it lies in the same place as the disk)?Sea Skimmer wrote:Its located 70,000 light years in a dwarf galaxy called the Rishi Maze, which is in a close orbit around the main SW galaxy.

Are the other planets inhabitable?
Wow. Only 1.2 million clones could be raised there? Quite expensive. Are there any other cities?Sea Skimmer wrote:The capital city which Obi wan visited covered 93 miles.

I used to think of the Kaminoans' lanky physique as an indicator of a very low gravity, but could their natural habitats be shallow sea areas, where underwater conditions reduce gravity pull? (I suppose so, but there could be another explanation)Master of Ossus wrote:The fact that the planet supported an atmosphere that Obi-Wan could breathe easily, and the apparent 1g that the planet was exerting, places it pretty close to Earth in terms of mass.
