It took a thread on trek bbs to point this out (they may not know si-fi but they do know one or two little things). There is very strong freudian imagery in this book. Think of his dream about cho “You did promise her, you know, Harry... I think you’d better give her something else instead... how about your Firebolt?" See what i mean. I hope no fundies pick up on this. They loathe the book enough as it is.

I think the Firebolt is more symbolic of something that is very very important to him, not sexual imagery.
