No shit, they're actually going to try to recall Gray Davis. This sends happy little tingles up my spine. Now if we could only do the same to Governor Jim here.

yes, it was just announced that THere were more than enough signatures need for the special election.

Thoguh Cali citizens must vote to see if a new election should take place, and if they vote yes, then we vote for governor all over again.

Ahnold anyone?

Ahnold sounds good to me. He has my vote. But that is just because he called my house during the last election looking for support for Rierdon

Sounds like the democrats strategy may be to only have Davis run in an attempt to shift the issue from his horrible record to the big evil republican power grab.

*shrugs* Then just make sure that Ah-nuld is on the ballot and turn it into a popularity contest, which Davis is inevitably going to lose. As long as he picks competent advisors he'll put California right, and even surrounded by blithering idiots can't make things worse--and if he enters the race, he wins.

If he ever wants to be governor, this is his chance right now. He can't wait until the end of Davis (or his successor's term). If he waits and Davis wins, the Republicans will resent him for getting them stuck with Davis for three more years. If he waits and Davis loses, he's going to be running against a Republican incumbent in the primary, and if he does beat the incumbent, it's likely his opponent fucked up so badly the voters aren't in the mood to elect any Republicans.

Christ, for that matter, let's hope the fucking Republicans don't shoot themselves in the foot by endorsing Simon or that other schmuck and tearing itself apart in the primaries.

I dont think there should be a recall since we all had a chance to put someone else in the Governor's seat at the last election. I personally think a recall should be for something like criminal behavior which nobody is claiming at this point.

However, since it is coming I will probably vote for Riordin if he runs and if not maybe Feinstein. Simon is a no go, and I dont think Id vote for Arnold. Although if he wins, Im gonna see if I can get people to call him Governor McBain.

My plan is to vote no for the recall, but pick Riordin (republican) or Feinstein (democrat) as my choices should the recall happen.

IMHO, the Repubicans are shooting themselves in the foot with this recall.
Even if Davis gets the boot, the new Governor has the same old Legislature to deal with.
You know, the one that can't agree on how to balance the budget.

All that'll happen is that Davis's successor will get the blame for the Legislature's inability to accomplish anything.

The wise move would be to just sit back and watch the Democrats self destruct over the next couple of years.

I'm pretty sure Arnold will run. Riordan doesn't want to run, and is actually pushing our favorite Austrian to run.

I'll vote for him, because he's intelligent, progressive, and to hear him make speeches.

I can't wait to see him driving around Sacramento in his humvee.

A question. What experience does Arnold have in political science or law?

None that I'm aware of, which I say is a good thing. He does have plenty of experience running businesses, not a bad thing for a state with such a fucked up budget.

How is not having experience in law and pol-sci a good thing when the candidate is running for a large government office? Without any experience, he'd be a figurehead, not a qualified governer.

Then the position is meaningless.

Not even the best governors know everything there is to know on every issue. What means more to you, experience or character?

Experience, easy. I'd much rather have an elected official that knows what he's doing than one who only got elected because he in summer blockbusters. The latter is meaningless, since all his advisors would be doing all the thinking and he'd just be sitting their smiling and reading what others have wrote for him. In that case, he might as well be gotten rid of and the state be governed directly by the commit that is running it anyway.

Arnold is actually a very intelligent man.

Problem is with political experience, that's different from management experience.

Political experience is 10% management, 60% ass-kissing, and 30% concenscious building

Arnold's experience is
20% ass-kissing/popularity
I can't see the state legislatator no agreeing to Arnold's request. That would be political suicide. 'HE DIDN"T VOTE WITH THE TERMINATOR! VOTE HIM OUT!'
60% Business management.
20% Fund-Raising/Concensicious building.

He will be a good governor if elected. And how is his chance.
Better yet for him
If he pulls California out of it's current 'slump', in 2008, I can see him as the Republican candiate for President, and winning
