I feel bad for anyone who buys into this shit.

I'm just curious as to what this "frequency" our good loon is blabbering about.

Oh for the love of ass-ramming they advocate the "hollow Earth" theory.

Beware HAARP!

HAARP is just some old cold war program that used radiowaves to ionize bits of the upper atmosphere and send the particles hovering back and forth along the magnetic lines so that incase a russian missile was launched the high energy particles would pass over the missile and fuck up its guidance systems.

When Dec. 2012 rolls over I'll be sure to laugh my fucking ass off at all the Mayan calendar experts.

I've a question: What caused the big "Doomsday" craze these days? I mean it's really big compared to previous times. And most of the people who support them are in either the Bible 666 BEAST WHORE OF BABYLON or MAYAN 2012 PLANET-X NEW AGE SIXTH WORLD camps.

Also of interest: Anyone notice how Mars is very bright? It's only this close to Earth every 80K years, they say. Some people beleive that this planet made out of dark matter or whatever is headed close to Earth and that's what's causing the God of War to be so attracted to us.

PS: For some reason my email notification of responses is very slow...

Did it work? I never thought it was a real/valid program.

You know, they keep pushing their "doomsday" back. It was going to be in 1998, then 2000, then 2003, now its 2012.

Excuse me while I go stock up on tinfoil hats.

Jehovah's Witnesses are the funniest:

JW: "When the Rapture comes, the chosen 144,000 will be taken up to rule in Heaven."

ME: "And you figure on being one of those 144,000?"

JW: "Yes. All Witnesses want to go."

ME: "How many Jehovah's Witnesses are there, worldwide?"

JW: "About 6 million."

ME: "Do you not see a problem there?"

JW: "What problem?"

That was an actual conversation I had with one about a month ago.

If you were a JW, wouldn't your goal be to fail at converting people? I mean, if you succeed, you just lower your chances of being one of the 144,000! Maybe that's why they're all so annoying.

I've read that you won't find any stone castles built in Europe around the year 1000 A.D. because the few that could read fully expected the end of the world around then.

Can anyone give me any information on the idea of Doomsday throughout the ages? Like the scares in 1000 and 1500 leading up to 2000? My brother: "Why are people obsessed with even numbers!?"

I believe they're still working on that kind of program up in Alaska. It was in a PopSci (or PopMech) a couple of years ago.

Hey, found it. Here's the homepage: http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/

While there is legitimate reason to believe this kind of device actually can damage the ionosphere, it's... unlikely to bring about the end of the earth.

Mike, maybe 144,000 refers to units? Like clonetroopers in SW? :)

If you believe websites like those, the world ended 3 years, 7 mounths, 27 days, 2 hours, 42 minutes and 30 seconds ago.

End of the world claims are funny. Normally stuff like this falls under remembering the hits and forgetting the misses, but this is just forgetting the misses and not remembering dick.

Anyone claiming to be an "expert" at Maya calendrics who thinks that the calendar is going to end in 2012, is NO expert. It does NOT end, people!

From Maya Cosmos, by Linda Schele, David Friedel, and Joy Parker:
....These higher cycles are all set at thirteen because long counts record the elapsed time since a zero date which was written at Koba as 13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.0.0.0.0. 4 Ahau 8 Kumk'u. When a complete cycle accumulates in this system, the number with that particular unit changes to one. This Yaxchilan date (stated earlier in the text, it was 9.15.13.6.9. 3 Muluc 17 Mak.) simply records that the units above the Bak'tun (the "9" in the above date) were still set at thirteen when the ballcourt was dedicated.
BTW, today's date in the Maya Long Count calendar is 12.19.10.8.3 12 Ackbal 11 Xul, and governed by the underworld god G1.

Actually, it's symbolic shorthand. 1,000 was often used to refer to a large number of people. The most perfect number in ancient Judeo-Christian thought was 144, 12 tribes of Israel multiplied by the twelve Apostles. A perfect large number of people would then be 144,000.

This is how I learned it in an English class that focused on the Bible as a piece of literature.

A lot of Maya gods have designations given in the early part of the last century by some pretty unimaginative archeologists. And they're easier on the tongue than some of their actual names, which are only now becoming known with the continued decipherment of their hieroglyphics. For intance, Waxaklahun Ubah Kan, the Maya war serpent god.
