He does not. And being homophobic and being against gay marriages can be two different things, depending of what the person's meaning of marriage is.

I like this part of the article, btw.
The Vatican is particularly worried about the waning influence of the church in Europe. Drafters of a proposed constitution for the European Union (news - web sites) ignored Vatican requests to include explicit mention of Europe's Christian roots.

On Sunday, the pope lamented that the church's message was being watered down in Europe, decrying the spread of a "vague and little-demanding religious sentiment, which could become agnosticism and practical atheism."
Eh eh eh.

It's funny, the places in the US that were once the stronholds of the catholic church like New England, Southern California, St. Louis and the Southwest have become (with the exception of St. Louis) the centers of atheism and agnosticism in the US.

Well maybe I was being a bit harsh. But he should've said any parishioners caught molesting children should be at the mercy of the police!

He could never say otherwise, that's self evident. The plot thickens only in the cases where there are suspicions, but not proven guilt. The parishioners hold a position of such trust and reverence in their communities that simple badmouthing can lead to tons of damage, and that's partially the reason why the high ranking members of the Church often try to cover up possible cases (that's not a characteristic of the Church only, all the organizations with power based on reputation are guilty of that).

Remember, Ein, in this day and age you must think the facts very carefully before pointing your finger at someone. A baseless accusation of pedophilia can be enough to ruin someone's life.

And that person who came around here trying to make everyone pedos. What was his/her/its name? Vanished for a while then came back.

Spanky would know, he ripped the guy apart.

The thread's in HoS, "A Pat Kelly-ish pedophile has dropped by" or something like it.

If I were you I'd keep your head out of this topic, kojikun. You don't have a very good reputation yourself.

Back on topic, the Pope and the Catholic Church are against gay marriage. Is any one really suprised? This isn't something unexpected after all.

Thankfully the nations considering it don't seem to be listening much to the Vatican. All it does is reinforce the message for those that already have a problem with it.

The previous one was even worse.

The entire institution of the papacy should be abolished as an affront to human civilization. However, that will never happen. The world has hundreds of millions of Catholic sheep willing to defend and uphold this ridiculous archaic institution of an anointed "Holy See" or whatever the hell they call him now. And it doesn't matter how many pedophiles his organization shelters and protects.
