Are they doing crunches? sweet
I need to switch Rotc programs that damn run is killing me i can hold an 9 minute mile for a good six miles but holding a 7min52sec is a little harder. Push ups and sit ups are nothing just a couple short of maxing in each. we dont have to do pull ups.

Well enjoy being a bullet sponge, I admire the Marines but I don't want to be one of them, To be honset depending on were you go you will always be the one in the shityist accomidations

But since you are, I recomend you go, mmm have to remeber it, can't off the top of my head what the Job string is, I'll let you know this, You have to be smart, you have to be a little stronger and you have to be recongized in Basic Training but if you are you become what the Navy calls CTO(Crypto-Tech Operations -CTO-) and the Marines call a Job string somthing, as I STILL can't remeber it and google is turning up nothing, bah, have to remeber to bother the Staff Sergent Tommrow

Anyway
While a Navy CTO will be at a Com ceneter somewhere the Marine version is somewhere on a beach using spooky spy shit to talk with that CTO back in the Center and through him to his Command(Or strait to his command depends on how well set up the situation is) you get to learn all sorts of spooky spy shit, get slighly better pay(I belive you get insentive pay for it that we don't) Faster promotions(To an extent, advancement in the Marines is pretty damn slow except on the battle field)

And if killing people is your thing, you'll still be on the beach, you'll just be the SECOND boat not the third(Or the fifth if you went Engineering)

Best of luck to you

We won't be able to send you care packages while you're at Parris Island, but we can send letters and postcards. Getting lots of letters makes you feel better and makes you look cool around the other guys...

Do you think we should get Ein to write a joke letter to him, and have him read it out loud to his barracks mates?

*thinks* Nah...

Though I will be sure to send you a letter detailing in how many ways the Navy is far, far superior to the Marine Corps. That should be worth a few chuckles if you wanna pass it around. :)

Are you going to San Diego or Paris Island?

Another good way to prepare for bootcamp is to stand in your living room, run out into the front lawn, then run back into your living room. Typical bootcamp game, just add a DI screaming "Get on line. Too slow, get out in the pit. Too slow, get on line." You get the point.

Ah, good. You'll get the good old story about the run away recruit who got gobbled up by a 'gator. Seriesly though, the forced marches there are hell. They might be flat, which is good, but the terrain is blah and phycologicaly it fuckes you up because you don't feel like your going anywhere. So beware..........

The humidity is suppost to be a bitch, but San Diego is kind of wet too so...

Just find a few people to yell at you while your exericising

Or go pick yourself up a copy of Full Metal Jacket and loops the sceans were the Drill Instructor is yelling then max volume it, and put on headphones

Get yourself use to the physical and emotional abuse

Another tip

You will never be on time... EVER, if you go fast enough to get fully dressed in two minutes, oops we ment one minute, too slow! or, good now do it agian in one minute

Be prepared for that

I got a kick out of how much the Navy's bootcamp barracks looked like the one in Full Metal Jacket. There were only a few easilly noticable differences. We had tables in the middle (that we weren't allowed to use until the last week) and we had dividers between the "shitters" (still no stall doors though).

Do the Marines do the co-ed training thing?

When I was in boot in Orlando, Fl there were separate women's companies that were partnered up with male companies for classroom activities. My company flew solo while the two other male companies in our training group had sister companies. :|

I must say that I am a little out of touch, but last I heard....NO.

While the women recruits are trained at Paris Island they have little if no contact with the male recruits. My wife trained there and she said that it was a thrashing offence to even look at the male recruits if they ran by.

With no female recruits at San Deigo, I did not experience that problem. Yet there were a few Marines and Navy personell who were female and the DI would bend you if you stared at them but that encounter was so rare as to be not a problem.

If they really wanted to be evil they'd have a bunch of female corpsmen working in medical.

As it was we had a decent looking very flirty female petty officer during all the sex-ed/VD classes. Damn, the gonorhea of the throat images still make me cringe thinking about them.

Make sure to read up on Surviving Marine Corps Boot Camp before leaving.

The unofficial marine motto: No one wants to fight, but someone should know how.

First thing you want to know before going to basic. Don't go in with a shaved head. Have a little up top. If you go in with a shaved head, your a smart ass, you dont want to be labled a smart ass on your first day of boot.

Have you been issued your welcome aboard packet yet?

If so, have they informed you about the things you need to memorize?

And on refering to your seargents. Always! Go with title, (ie. Gunery Seargent) however, when in doubt, go with sir. And start learning to talk in the third person.
The Zen of Not Fucking Up.

so I did my 4 mile coverage today, went to recruiting station.

did my normal work out. 3 sets of 10 lat pulldowns, 130 lbs. biking for 15 min. 2 sets of 25 pushups. 3 sets of 10 standing benchpress.

go to my boss types. ask if I should do something else. so they have me do 3 sets of 5 negative bicep flex. my muscles start spazzing. I ask if I should do anything else.

they have me do 3 sets of 15 lat pulldowns, 110lbs, interspersed with 3 sets of 20 pushups. then cuz I wasnt sweating enough, I was told to do 100 crunches, with a ten kilo on my chest.

I will be doing a 2 mile jog later tonite.

something about this disturbs me.
