The matter of Miss Grim

Post by LT.Hit-Man »

Frist off I will you all this she's no troll.
I post a link to her site in the BtoM awhile back and from all the hits she got because of that she came here to check it out next off I have been talking to her by e-mail and she told what was going and why she left.
So I will say this once and once only she's no troll and if she does decids to return show her some respect or I wll be most annoyed :x

I thought this matter was settled, but I would like to sound off that it was embarrasing to us as a board, and that I hope she'll come back and post, she seemed very nifty.

Personally this all showed pretty poor form...poking is alittle bit childish and while some may enjoy it.

We're stopping and we didn't completely run her off...but she's probably got a bad taste in her mouth from what happened.

Honestly in your first 5 posts is not the way to be introduced to a board.
I noticed that you and a handful of others were civil and polite.

Yeah some were polite...and I did welcome her(mostly because I realized how she found us and was happy she expressed such interest)

Hopefully she will come back because she seemed pretty cool about all of what we are and what we do here.

Edit: And yes I edited my earlier post...so no Next of Kin didn't just magically whup out this quote :P

She wasn't lying. I found her website, quite easily, as anybody who called her a troll could have done before they started throwing accusations around.

Indeed. I have sent her an Email encouraging, I hope, her to return and apologised for any affront she felt she recieved.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I have a question. Would y'all be this worked up about accidentally shooing away a guy? I wonder...

In most cases, probably not. But in this case it was not just a girl it was a girl who seemed very interested in the site and the discussions, also she seemed to have a pretty good personality as well. *shrug*

In all honesty, probably not. But all that would mean in the guy's case is that we're not getting as worked up as we should. Goddammit, it doesn't matter if she's female. She seems literate and intelligent, and was evidently ready to become an enthusiastic contributing member. We need as much fresh new blood as we can get, especially in a board that's going to scare a lot of people off to begin with.

Some wouldn't and I doubt the board would...but Red does have a point about new blood.

Speaking for myself, yes.

Because they want to participate and I don't see the need of scaring someone off.

If they prove themselves rowdy/trollish/nasty later...so be it.

But to scare anyone off is not a good sign regardless of sex.

Especially when a two-minute Google search can verify that newbie's claims. For that matter, she claimed there was a feature about her in PC Gamer magazine. Christ, a little common sense here. If you're a sock puppet troll looking to repeat Acacia's/QTG's stunt, do you make claims that are EASY to disprove, like you're featured in a national circulation magazine, or HARD?

I would hope I would. I PM quite a few people with encouraging things when bad shit happens to them. Not all of them are girls.

If I'd had any part in that thread, I'd be disgusted and ashamed of myself.

Fortunately, I did not have anything to do with that thread. Nice job, geniuses.

Yes, we are all to blame. Even the ones who tried to be polite and helpful.
