They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

Pearl Harbour. One of the most horrifying movies I have ever seen, albeit not intentionally.

Glad to see someone's starting to learn about SUSPENSE
a good horror move does not need gore and showing off the thing that is there to scare you defeats the purpose.
Personally I like the oldies.
Give me Nasferatu, give me Psycho.

The Shining. Stanley Kubrik version with Jack Nicholson.
The ham-fisted attempt at being a tear jerker.
The horrific fake accents that Affleck and Hartnetts inflict on us.
It's cornier than the worst of actual WWII propaganda.
High explosives do not produce giant fireballs, this is hardly a failing unique to this....film, but with the budget they had, they could have done more than set off a couple hundred gallons of diesel fuel on the deck of fucking MODERN destroyers.
Affleck takes a train to England.
Serving in the British armed forces would have resulted in a court-martial for Affleck's character.
And a whole lot more. I simply can NOT watch this movie more than a few minutes at a time.
It's AWFUL!
Why? Well there's the complete disregard for historical accuracy.kojikun wrote:Why?Darth Wong wrote:Pearl Harbour. One of the most horrifying movies I have ever seen, albeit not intentionally.![]()

Ring 1,2 and 0 (The Japanese ones are better!)
28 Days Later
and maybe Battle Royale, ok it's not exactly horror, but it's just an incerdibly great film.

The original Hellraiser. The sequels are bad enough to have Jadzia Dax vs. Borg Drones.
Ring has been mentioned and I'll recommend it again, it is very good and spooky. The last scene IMO is overfeared by some people, but it really makes one feel disturbed a bit about the whole flick. I remember some people having bad side effects after seeing it.
A guy in our class made a prank with a phone call + Ring screen saver and scared his girlfriend.

I have kinda bad experience with horror movies. Call me a square, I've always felt the horror genre better suited to the written medium.
Maybe it's because of the fact that I don't recall seeing any other horror flicks than "The Blair Witch Project"...

Bull, the American version is far more visually appealing (Actually having a noticable color scheme with relevance to the story) and more concise (the Japanese version throws in so many horror movie ideas it gets confusing).Dorsk 81 wrote: Ring 1,2 and 0 (The Japanese ones are better!)
Also, Ringu relies more on its music to scare people then anything else. It's a good movie, still, but stil falls short of the American version on several points.
ISARMA: Daikaiju Coordinator: Just Add Radiation
Justice League- Molly Hayes: Respect Hats or Freakin' Else!
Browncoat
Supernatural Taisen - "[This Story] is essentially "Wouldn't it be awesome if this happened?" Followed by explosions."
Reviewing movies is a lot like Paleontology: The Evidence is there...but no one seems to agree upon it.
"God! Are you so bored that you enjoy seeing us humans suffer?! Why can't you let this poor man live happily with his son! What kind of God are you, crushing us like ants?!" - Kyoami, Ran

I was going to suggest that one. It's both suspensful, gross and cool.Enforcer Talen wrote:the thing, 1982 version. gave nightmares to half of my horror movie club.
The remake of the Fly, with Jeff Goldblum is also pretty good.
I also like vampire and werewolf movies.
The Howling (the first one, the "sequels" are very spotty on the enjoyment front).
Gingersnaps (not the best effects but a rather creepy movie even before they get to the monsters).
An American Werewolf in London
Fright Night -- excellent vampire flick
