Giving certain students a whole seperate school because of sexual preference is discrimination, and it's wrong. Gay or straight, black or white, whatever, you deserve the SAME education, you don't need to go to a special school to get it. What's next, are they gonna go back to total segregation between blacks and whites?

The all gay school will set gays back years, if allowed to open. You do not get people to accept you, and see your worth as a person, by enclaving your kind, and isolating them.
Worst case scenareo, anyone wanting to attact gays will now have them bunched up, and and seperated out. Perfect for a bombing or shooting from some nut case.

I say it sounds a lot like voluntary segregation. The only group that I could imagine would want a school for gays other than the people proposing it would be the fundies that don't want their kids exposed to the "Heathen queers". Besides, I don't see schools for blacks opening so they aren't but down by racist white students, or schools for kids with funny names opening so they aren't made fun of by kids with short, normal-sounding names.

I find it appalling. It's seperate but equal all over again. Voluntary or not it's creating a problem not solving one. It's segregation and what makes it worse is it's the kind of self segregation that's doing so much to ruin America. What a fucking stupid idea.

Legally, it'll probably pass muster since it's voluntary. Damn shame about that.

Perhaps, and I hope so. But the problem is that they will no doubt argue it's to protect them from straight bigots. A PC judge might well buy it.

No chance. Its a pretty explicit rehash of Brown vs. Board of Education. No judge would directly challege a SCOTUS ruling. If it weren't so clear-cut, maybe, but this is as clear cut as it gets.

But this school is voluntary. No one is forcing them to attend a different school which takes it out from Brown vs Board.

I think it should go down and hope it will. But there's no clear cut precedent for voluntary segregation.

Brown vs. Board of Ed was actually about travel distance. If a straight kid lived such that this school was the closest to his home, and he tried to go there, and he were blocked, the case would be exactly the same.

Anyway, when I looked, aside from yours and Soontir's nobody had seemed to post anything supporting it, even limited. So...either they're both a mistake, or the other "no" vote has someone who isn't willing to take credit for it.
