Is this a good way to "Fix" TPM?

Post by MKSheppard »

Obi Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn do TPM as it happened originally, but when they get to the blast door to the Neimodian control center, Obi Wan concentrates on using the Force to bitchslap around the droidekai like toys, while Qui-Gon Jinn finishes cutting through the blast door.

Once they're through the blast door, the Neimodians are at their mercy, and the invasion of Naboo is stopped, and the few droid landing craft that have landed are withdrawn after killing Jar Jar Binks :-D

Later, as they report to the Senate Council in Charge of Jedi Oversight on Coruscant, the head of it, Senator Palpatine, is disturbed by the fact that the Neimodians mentioned a Sith having been sent to ensure their compliance earlier, and so he and the Jedi Council agree to assign Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn to tracking down this mysterious Sith.

[Insert some detective crap]

When they get TOO close to uncovering the truth from the Neimodian Elders, Darth Maul steps in to assassinate the Neimodian Elders to keep the truth secret. In the resulting Sabrefight, Maul kills Qui-Gon Jinn and gets away.

Maul's trail leads Obi-Wan to Tatooine, where a 20 year old Anakin Skywalker has been living alone ever since his father was killed in a Tusken raid and his mother kidnapped by them 4 years ago.

**********

Basically, I'm combinbing elements of TPM and AOTC (IMHO, AOTC was
the film that TPM should have been)...

And I make QGJ die halfway thru the film - give the audience time
to like him....and then SNATCH HIM AWAY!

This also gives Obi Wan a burning need to get that SOB Maul...

It's crude, but does work effecitvely well

No Jar-Jar! That's a good enought excuse to engage in vigorous pelvic-thrusting!

No climactic battle at the end? Where's a Star Wars film without that? Granted, TPMs: "Reptile-ducks with glowsticks pound the crap out of futuristic, ray-gun wielding robots" battle did suck, but at least it was there. Its the principles!

I'm still writing it man! I'm only halfway through my basic script treatment idea!

I say getting rid of Jar-Jar would make it halfway decent. I would like to see him die a greusome death, but I think it would be best if all traces of him vanished. Then, the only problem would be Anakin hitting the exposed power core. I'm sure there could have been a better ending to it, perhaps some heavy aretillery coming out and shooting the thing up. Not only would it be more plausible, a good space battle might follow. With those two things out of the way, you have a pretty good movie.
