I search the the goblins bodies and look around the disaster of a room, keeping my axe on hand for any surprises.

The next room appears to be deserted. It is finished in marble, and four statues line the walls. There are two doors at the opposite end.

The goblins have already been looted of anything of value and nothing is alive. Outside you find fairly fresh bootprints and the tracks of horses.

I carefully eye the statues while working my way slowly across the room, through the shadows, keeping an eye out for traps.

The floor to the doors appears to be checkered with depressable tiles. Everyone knows that depressable tiles mean traps, usually of the arrow-shooting variety.

Two goblins charge down from the surrounding hills. One is wearing a headdress. Or you assume whatever's on his head is indeed a headdress, anyways.

As sunset approaches you are set upon by bandits. Between all of you, you have spotted at least 5 of them. They are trying to surround you and cut off your path. At least two are archers, wielding bows nearly as long as they are tall.

My hands slip into pouches scattered about my armor and extract several wooden shims. I carefully slot the shims under the depressable tiles to anchor them at floor height, enough to prevent them from pressing down under my weight but not under somebody else's.

[Ok, let me see... in the horseback party we've got Alastar (Mage, Alyrium), Kenji (Monk, Darth Blight), Johan (Rogue, myself), Toren (Druid, Majin), Rukh (Barbarian, SHODAN), and Ryu (Fighter, Tasoth). Looks like a somewhat even matchup.]

I crack my whip at my horse, causing it to suddenly bolt off to one side and off the road. Then, as the horse puts several trees between myself and the brigands, I prepare to leap off it onto a sturdy overhead branch.

Leap check: 15 +2 = 17

I just clear the horse and grab a hold of the branch. As the horse continues a short distance further into the forest, I use my momentum to swing up onto the branch and then pause, catching my breath, before crawling toward the tree's trunk so I can climb a little higher. I carefully listen for the sound of approaching footsteps, and hope my diversion worked.

Listen check: 12 +4 = 16

I attempt a concentration check to cast a spell on horseback. 15+6=21 meets dc of 16

I cast mage armor on myself, and draw my rapier(I love only needing one hand to cast spells)

[I know I haven't been on as much as I'd like, so I wouldn't be opposed to this idea. I've been sleeping wierdly recently to boot, which has only further complicated things. If someone with mastery of 3E rules would like the job, PM me, though be aware that we are not being very strict with the rules as suits the nature of the campaign. Anyone who wants to apply should also have:

The traps appear to be kept at bay, though you could have easily picked your way through the checkered tiles. You've now got a choice between two doors, both appearing identical.

The little bugger ducks the swing and stabs at you with its crude sword, scoring a deep gouge.

18+1=19
6-1=5

The other slashes with its small axe, but your armor easily deflects the weak attack.

The bandits have encircled you, remaining at a safe distance some hundred or so feet away. One, obviously the leader judging by his superior equipment shouts, "You are surrounded! You are outnumbered! You are outmatched! Surrender your gold or pay with your blood!"

As if to accentuate his point, a crude arrow strikes with surprising force in the ground in front of the party. [All mounted party members, make Ride to checks to control mounts in combat, just in case it matters.]
