Thunderbirds Live Action Film

Post by Admiral Valdemar »

Apparently according to Empire and Hotdog film mags, there is a pre-production of a live action feature length movie of Thunderbirds, the popular Brit marionette sci-fi series of the sixties that has recently been digitally remastered on TV and DVD.

I'd be happy about this and waiting eagerly for more news if only for the fact that the Hollywood imbeciles that plan this movie haven't approached Gerry Anderson about it. It's like making a Star Wars film or novel without consulting George Lucas!

These guys never fail to amaze me, they may as well just kill the franchise off right now.

Still, got that CGI series of Capt. Scarlet to look forward too, the Japs are also keen on getting it as usual. :P

Thunderbirds with No Strings Attatched?!?!

Post by Patrick Degan »

Half the fun of Thunderbirds IS Supermarionation. Eliminate that, and what's the point? What makes it any different from any other action/adventure flick?

We wouldn't even get Brains sharing an existential moment with any of the Tracys, worrying that he and everybody else are nothing more than puppets dancing to entertain callous and unfeeling gods.

The people behind this project just don't get it.

Blasphemy! Live action T-birds will never work! Maybe doing it with updated puppet technology, but not real people! The Fanderson (Gerry's fanclub) will be egging these guys in the streets.

I know, the fact that they may also redesign all the vehicles too is annoying, just like things such as the X-Jet in X-Men got revamped but looked okay.

It will all be CGI as well. CGI has nothing on models and live actors have nothing on Supermarionettes. Needless to say, Anderson is pissed.

Dammit, I need to go buy the ICS of Thunderbirds now to cheer me up, at least there you can get some decent un-Hollywoodised stuff.
