American Wedding ... meh.

Post by Durandal »

I saw it on Friday. It was okay, but certainly not as good as the first two. This one put the focus on Stiffler to an annoying extent. Sean William Scott overacted the Hell out of the part, and the character seemed to have gotten less mature since the last two, which I didn't think was possible. Stiffler's character became more tolerable as the film went on, but the first half hour of him is simply irritating.

It seems like the writers just forgot about the rest of the supporting characters. Kevin barely had any lines at all; Finch only had dialogue because he verbally sparred with Stiffler, and Oz wasn't even in the movie. I guess he and his girlfriend died in a horrible car accident, and we weren't told or something. Tara Reid also was not in the film, which is probably part of the reason Kevin was barely present. Kevin mentions having a girlfriend while being tied up by strippers in the film, but that's about it. Jim, the main character, basically has the role of getting pissed off at and keeping Stiffler in line. That's not a very big part. Michelle, Jim's fiancé, played by the interminably sexy Alyson Hannigan, gets explored a little, but not much. We learn that her parents are blissfully unaware that she's a nympho, something that isn't really used in the film other than for a one-liner.

The opening scene of the film is hilarious. The film starts off on the right foot, but then Stiffler gets on the screen and becomes basically the Jar Jar Binks of American Wedding. It has its moments, but the second one was by far better. I got a matinee show, so I only paid $5.50 to see it, thankfully, because it wasn't worth the regular $7.50 or so.

I was never a fan of the pie series, I'm not much for embaresment humor. Too much of that in my life for it to be actually funny to me anymore.
ISARMA: Daikaiju Coordinator: Just Add Radiation
Justice League- Molly Hayes: Respect Hats or Freakin' Else!
Browncoat
Supernatural Taisen - "[This Story] is essentially "Wouldn't it be awesome if this happened?" Followed by explosions."

Reviewing movies is a lot like Paleontology: The Evidence is there...but no one seems to agree upon it.

He was used, naturally. He had about as much screen time as in the previous films.

One of the best supporting/charactor actors around today, IMHO.

Loved the first uncut one, the second was okay, but you can see they were going the sequel route which is a bad place unless you have the goods.

A third one? Wow, there really is meaning to that article about this year having more sequels (and mostly mediocre at that) than ever before.

Why can't Hollywood learn that some things should not be stamped with a brand name and flogged until the last cent is raked in? I mean T3 for instance, they just didn't learn.
