How much do those things cost? They look fairly pricey to me.
I wonder why they send them in to get blown up. That must cost a lot of money... Especially the big ones, just to look around? They should just have little RC cars with cameras to do the recon, not the big bomb-diffusing robots, just to go look and see where it might be.

While the robot is expandable, it is also capable of difusing the bomb without destruction of any property.

Yeah, I watched this thing on the History Channel, they sent this robot and it used this water cannon and the narrator's like, "They disarmed the bomb blah blah blah." And I was like, "Whoa".

I saw a show where Navy Seals used a water jet to disarm a limpet mine attached to a ship. I had the same reaction, whoa! I never would have thought to try that.JediNeophyte wrote:Yeah, I watched this thing on the History Channel, they sent this robot and it used this water cannon and the narrator's like, "They disarmed the bomb blah blah blah." A company in the UK makes them, I think I heard they were around £30k, but I may be making that up.
Remember when that suicide bomber in Israel botched his bombing and the robot stripped him infront of crowds of people and cameras and pulled him towards the cops by his foot with the rifle for detonating the bomb pointed at him incase he tried again?
That was class.

Re: Those Bomb Squad Robots
Depends on the type, the smallest ones cost under 35,000 dollars and generally only have a disruptor weapon to smash the bomb apart if they have anything, some are just camera equipped. There are bigger ones sometimes with multiple manipulator arms that cost many times thatRogueIce wrote:How much do those things cost? They look fairly pricey to me.
They don't use Robots specifically to detonate the bombs, there not considered expendable , just easier to risk then humans. As for using a little RC car, good luck driving that up stairs or maintaining you control signal through walls. And by the time your down weighting it down with a decent camera, batteries and a way to transmit the data you'll be lucky if the thing can even move.

Geez, Mr Super Literalist. I meant something like an RC car with a camera, cheap, in other words. I'll just spell these things out in the future.Sea Skimmer wrote:They don't use Robots specifically to detonate the bombs, there not considered expendable , just easier to risk then humans.
