Humans, bitching about humans being human. Hilarious.

Sounds like I Like to Watch by the Church of Euthanasia. Nice music, could do without the annoying vocals.

Just like they should concede the fact that they're disgusting, amoral deviants who should be eternally pilloried for exercising their right in that way, even if it is their right.

To be honest, I see nothing wrong with amorality. It's a hollow, artificial version of utilitarianism.

Don't get me wrong, of course... if a giant piano fell on their heads, I'd shed no tears. As for my above comment... I should point out that I do not consider those mentioned in the OP to be "amoral" (though they are) so much as I consider them to be "attention whores", using shock value rather than true creativity or intelligence to get their fifteen minutes of fame.

They're annihilating any pretense of societal decency; that's what I consider to be amoral. Where is the calm reserve of the Roman Senator, those who, when gathered in the forum, stopped a barbarian onrush by the mere solemnity of their deliberations, if, albeit, only for a moment? Is that not something to which we should aspire in our public exchanges, to be filled with a stoic calm, to place in every deliberation, a consideration for others? This horrid disrespect for the dead shows the blatant crassness of the modern culture. A pity that the Germans lost at the Marne; better that their half, the national virtue of Prussia, had reigned victorious in western civilization, than the commercial excess of Britain and the Dutch. Look how it has overtaken Europe, now, in victory--and see with irony how we maintain the older traditions better than they.

I ask not that they be gagged, but merely that they think before they speak, and then do so in full consideration of the consequences of their words. Have we all become children, that we are to rush in to such prattle, and think that others would be amused by it?

I don't think you can blame all of France for that video, Marina.

Well, it's the French after all. They always had a couple of screws loose in the upper floors...

Immaturity, one grants, is largely successful at breeding its like, which is one of the worst things about it.

Of course, we have guilt by association, always good fun. I take it everyone in the same state as the man jacking off on the tape should also be vaporised by nuclear bombardment? And John Norman (Some of you know who that fuckweed is, if you don't, count yourself lucky) is henceforth to be considered blanket-representative of all Americans.

Not to mention that the original source comes from Someone with a 'blog called Merde in France. How very unbiased and reliable a news source.
Eh, every country has idiots, France's idiots have just perfected publicity.

"The literary scene is getting ready for their post-vacation kick-off in September and writer Frédéric Beigbeder is doing to do what any self respecting member of the Paris Intelligentsia does: make money off the victims of 9-11."

I find the aire of hypocrisy and poor memory permeating. Did anybody forget the onslaught of commercials offering goods related to 9/11 being broadcasted on American Cable TV?

I suspect that was O.K in these minds because of the origin of country.

Fucking wankers and their hasty generalizations with their purpose in hatred of another nation.

Some idiots in this thread, and I'm beginning to see a pattern in their behaviour.

Whoever said those were good?

Hypocrite indeed! Just because something was never mentioned doesn't mean that people necessarily approved of / liked it!

What money? They lost millions in ad revenues by running their news feeds on all their networks commercial free for four days. On the day of the 11th, you couldn't watch a commerical on American TV if you tried, and it wasn't until that next monday that the big networks went back to something resembling a regular schedule.

If you're talking about the whores who made money selling whatever trash to which they could glue an American flag in the months following, you might have a point, but somehow I doubt somebody in Paris gives enough of a shit if the Franklin Mint makes record profits selling plates with eagles on them to make an ironic statement about it on film.

Thats like starting out in life as Arnold Schwartzenegger and then metamorphing into Nathan Lane. :P

Well, I preferred Bonn :D

And there's that old joke, with the punch line being "Trade problems on the German-Chinese border" :)

One can still dream...
