Jakarta attack; possible suicide bomber; Al-Qaeda blamed.

Jakarta Attack

Thirteen believed killed, including one Dutch citizen. One hundred and fourty-nine believed injured, including two Americans. The hotel was American owned. Analysts say it has all the hallmarks of Jemaah Islamiah (the Al-Qaeda front organization in Indonesia) and the official word in the Indonesian government suggests it might be a suicide bomber; but they're still investigating to see if the body parts found near the apparent vehicle carrying the bomb were from an attacker, or from bystanders (which might increase the death toll either way).

(NOTE: Latest reports have apparently revised the death toll down to ten; am, however, unsure of this, as other equally recent articles still say thirteen, one says fourteen, and Bloomberg, OTOH, gives only four.)

the first in a new round of attacks no doubt.

there has been a relative lull since the cluster of attacks in Bali and Kenya and the french tanker in the gulf.

IMHO That region of the world (Indonesia) with its large Muslim pop, will be a powder keg for the next forseeable future...

Much more so than the India/Pack area

Most likely this is merely a "we're still here" bomb, since the trials of most of their high leadership and those responsible for Bali are on at the moment with the first sentence getting handed down today.
