What do you do for a living?

Post by Gil Hamilton »

Just as the thread title says.

Right now, I don't really have an official official job. My job title is what I've deemed "vagrant handyman". In other words, I know alot of people and when someone needs someone to fix a sink or install some RAM in their computer or do some yardwork or something, they call me and afterwards I take there money. There are a few people that I consistantly work for. It's not great money but it's also *ahem* not really taxable. Plus I occasionally make webpages for people, but there isn't much demand for that. I'm also going to be working up at Pennsic (an SCA event) too, which will make me a good chunk of change.

Currently, I build commercial web pages. And I hate every minute of it.

Today's an unofficial day off.

Well I guess you could say I study for a living, since that is what the government gives me money to do. I love living in a welfare state.

My job..that is a very good question and one which is undefined.
I work in a heritage park/museum. Technicaly I am a research assistant and for practical purposes I manage the southern hemisperes largest collection of fire engines which also doubles as the defacto NZ Fire Service Museum.
I am trained as a computer technician and I get paid a pittance..well I do have plans to earn more if my wee plans for my job work out.

At the moment, nothing, but looking pretty damn hard. I don't work at News12 at all anymore and my computer job ended after I graduated.

I make the odd buck here and there firefighting my father's computer problems...

I'm a Shift Leader at Hollywood Video. I love it a whole lot, even though my pay, after over a year, two raises and a promotion, is less than starting pay at Starbucks. You gotta stick with what you love doing.

University student living at home, with part-time job setting up and packing up some stuff. And that's about as specific as I am going to be about this.

Well, technically the money that I live off of is government assistance, because I'm legally disabled due to systemic lupus (while there are times that I feel fine, they're too few and far between to hold down a job or work on a temporary scale long enough to support a minimal lifestyle). However... I consider my job to be my membership-based website (nude photographs, artwork, journals) because I work on it every minute I can and ideally it will bring in enough consistant income at some point to take myself off of government assistance. It hasn't made any profit yet, but it's only been up since the middle of March... I expect it will start making a profit in the next month or two if I don't run across any more unexpected expenses.

Speaking of work... I have to do a bunch of photo shoots right now, and I would like to say that it's just *wrong* to be putting on makeup and lingerie any time before noon (but the lighting is better, so I do it). Arrgghhh... sleeeeepy...
