Most of them were neophytes. The Jedi Mace was able to get were mostly apprentices and newbies that happened to be at the Temple.

As I just posted in another thread:Frank Hipper wrote:All this is amusing as hell to read, but the fact that the Jedi were soundly defeated in the arena at Geonosis is a huge black spot on the Jedi reputation.
Were they neophytes? Were they really so weak that so many of them couldn't have been more effective against droids? TPM hangar scene seemed to indicate they shouldn't have been mauled the way they were.
Lord of the Farce wrote:And what of the hundred something Jedi who were killed or wounded? Hopping out of the arena and making an escape would have reduced casualties greatly and shouldn't have been that difficult (again, ref: TPM), yet they didn't. Combined with the possibility of their overall power having been reduced, it makes sense.

That's because they already used up their Force Throw and had to memorize it again after a full night of sleep.MKSheppard wrote:Then explain why in TPM Obi Wan and Qui Gon Jinn didn't just get rid of the
Droidekai through Force Throw, which they had used moments earlier
to dispatch a bunch of Soldier Droids, and continued burning through the
blast door? That was a place where Force Throw would have been
perfect...and it had been used MOMENTS BEFORE....

But they didn't. So what?
We know they could have. That's all that matters.

Shep, it doesn't matter HOW badass you are. If you're badly enough outnumbered, you are GOING DOWN.MKSheppard wrote:This is why I hate the new trilogy. It's really shitty. For years,
all of us on ASVS were eagerly awaiting seeing the Jedi at their

Shep, don't be an idiot. Jedi have these powers, since they demonstrated them onscreen. The question of why they don't always use them is a matter worthy of conjecture and theorizing; perhaps they're weak in AOTC, perhaps that many Jedi can't use that much of the Force in one place at one time, perhaps they had already used them heavily just to get into the arena unseen in the first place (not a simple task for 200 people who are visibly and obviously not indigenous) and they were worn out, perhaps they were arrogant, perhaps they didn't high-jump because that would only make them nice predictable arcing targets. Who knows?
But simply blathering that you think their powers are bullshit because you don't know why they aren't using them continuously is ridiculous. We've seen these powers in action, and it was totally deliberate, not an FX mistake or any of that nonsense.

Tactical whoopsy? Truely, Obi might have thought of taking the Droideka's on like the majority of the droids he had already fucked up. When shields came into the picture and the blasters started churning, his chance to end it quickly was gone and they had to change stategies.MKSheppard wrote:Wow, you're really fucking stupid. not whether jedi can reflect blasters back to the droids. Why didn't he just
close his fist and crush that Droidekai's braincase like a twig?

Another thought on Geonosis; numbers and heavy weapons did the Jedi in, in the arena. The Geonosians had the big green blob gun that took out concentrations of Jedi in the arena. How the hell can you deflect a bolt when its bigger than you?

Why don't you answer your own question? Why do you think he didn't do this? Because he lacks TK ability? That is an absurd and stupid explanation in light of the fact that said TK powers have been demonstrated.MKSheppard wrote:Wow, you're really fucking stupid. This is about the Force, and the use of it, not whether jedi can reflect blasters back to the droids. Why didn't he just close his fist and crush that Droidekai's braincase like a twig?
You are committing the "not A, therefore B" fallacy. If you are not completely satisfied with some explanation as to why Jedi don't use their powers in <insert situation here>, then you assume that you have somehow disproven those abilities. But when you state it as a theory, its absurdity becomes clear.
Your (apparent, but unstated) theory: Jedi do not have enough TK power to damage mechanical components in a droid.
Conventional theory: Jedi did not use their TK powers in that particular case for some reason, as yet undetermined.
Your theory directly contradicts observation, since they have been shown using those powers to disable droids in battle. The conventional theory needs to be fleshed out, but has the advantage of not directly contradicting observation.
If that is not your theory, then state your theory rather than simply blathering that you "hate Jedi fanboys" and whining like a 12 year old girl having her first period.

Get a picture of a standing droideka and a Battle droid. Look at them long and hard. Then tell me what is different about the Droideka that would make that far harder to knock down and smash then a battle droid.consequences wrote:Good One.
Seriously, there is no reason why qui-Gonn shouldn't have looked up when OB1 said destroyers, taken 1 hand off of his lightsaber, and vaguely waved it at the destroyers, blasting them down the hallway while OB1 blocked their shots.
