Imperial guerillas
If the Empire opted for special forces/insurgance strikes and no out and out fleet engaementa against the Federation, would they be successful in destroying the Federation or at least taking control of the government? They can't use superweapons, heavy ships, or lots of fighters (at once.)

I think we need more information. It's pretty clear that regardless of how the Empire were to go about the war, if they were seriously dedicated to winning it then the UFP would have no chance. However, special forces are almost always insufficient to take and hold territory themselves. What sort of ground troops (if any) would the Empire be able to use for this scenario, and please explain the starship limitations further (ie. Are lightly armed carriers OK?).

The Empire is forced into avoid direct fleet confirnations and can use no ship larger than a Strike-class. The Empire can use any of it's crack units, such as stormies or commandos. NO BDZs OR LARGE SPACEBATTLES!Master of Ossus wrote:I think we need more information. Strike-class ships and below would be able to decimate Federation forces on their own. Take a sci-fi universe in which the heaviest starship weapons appear to be low megaton-class and then inject ships from a universe where fighters can carry gigaton-class weapons and have the speed to engage only at times and places of their choosing, and you have a one-sided slaughter.

Why is this thread even in existence? ITs simply another one of those "I'm trying to keep the ST vs SW debate alive" threads that relies on hideously skewing the issue by crippling one side or enhancing the other. Lets face it, the Federation is basically screwed no matter WHAT happens (short of actually depriving them of their actual advantages or bringing in near-omnipotents).

Seriously I remember this kids first posts and he hasn't learned a damn thing since seemingly.
Lockage seems necessary I would think.

Let's see.
Like Wong pointed ut it becomes basically SHips that can still arm themselves with at least one GT weapon and possibly multiple MT weaponry.
The only difference is that the Empire would basically be going on a reign of terror instead of holding planets.
Thread locky.
