Would you vote for Schwarzenegger?
Simple question: Arnold Schwarzenegger is running for governor of California. Would you vote for him? It's polling time!

After Jesse Ventura, I'd think long and hard about casting my vote for any other celebrity-cum-politician.

I think so. I'm not the biggest fan of his policies (nor of any Republican these days, really), but he's the Terminator and he does seem like what California needs right now.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
I would vote for him. I generally agree with his views, and he has been a successful businessman. Most important of all, he would be a good figurehead, which I think is exactly what California needs right now.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.
I'd vote for 'im because he's independently wealthy. He doesn't really have to do this, and thanks to his money (not to mention his name is already pretty damn well known) he wouldn't need campaign contributors and the like, so I think he's more likely to actually speak for the will of the people, since he wouldn't be in debt to others.
Just my thought. Plus, who's gonna argue with the Terminator?
PS: I loved his little "I'll be back." after his press conference.

From what I've seen of him so far, yes.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
I don't care, but I would just because it's so funny.

He couldn't POSSIBLY be worse than anybody else running out there. He sure as fuck would be better than Governor Jim. I'd vote for him. Worst case scenario, I vote for the other guy in four years.

He's better than Issa (the guy who decided it would be great if we spent a whole lot of money on an election to solve our money problems), Riordan (fundie bitch), Bustamante (back-stabbing, self-centered retard for whom the phrase "conflict of interests" was created), or any of the other celebrities.
Arnie's a "moderate conservative", which means he's in the area where the two parties' policies overlap. I don't know of any of his political ideas which I'm against.
He's an opportunistic, manipulative guy, but all the politicians who aren't opportunistic, manipulative guys aren't politicians.
The only thing I worry about with Arnie is that he has no experience in public office. He might be overwhelmed, but he's a smart enough guy that I'm sure he's aware of what awaits him, and he'll be able to adapt enough.
So yeah, I'm voting for the Terminator.

Oh yeah, and he's got a good chance of winning now that Issa and Riordan have dropped out. Those idiots crack me up. Issa actually should have had a chance to at least steal a lot of votes from Arnie from all of the Republicans who didn't want to vote for a guy with no experience. But he pussied out, crying like a little bitch. Good riddance, says I.

Who wants to bet that the Governator actually gets a clear majority despite the huge field of candidates?

He have to work at it to be worse then the current stupidity in charge, plus the election won't effect most of us so its just a pure popularity contest.Lord Poe wrote:I can't believe anyone would say yes yet; we don't even know his friggin' platform!

Work at it? From what I can see, unless deliberately tried to cause an earthquake, he couldn't possibly be worse than the current crop of bozos in Sacramento.Sea Skimmer wrote:He have to work at it to be worse then the current stupidity in charge, plus the election won't effect most of us so its just a pure popularity contest.Lord Poe wrote:I can't believe anyone would say yes yet; we don't even know his friggin' platform!

He may be registered as a republican, but his is a social liberal and a fiscal conservitive to be more specific. I think you would like alot of his views on social issues.Alyrium Denryle wrote:NO. They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

I'm detecting little love for the Gray man. I wonder aside from the energy fiasco what else has drawn such ire from the electorate. I think Nightline cited him as the most unpopular governor the state has ever had since they were keeping track.

You know, there's a word for the roughly 60% of the electorate that will mindlessly pull their party's lever on election day no matter who the candidate is: irrevelant. The other side considers them a lost cause, and their own side only cares about them during close elections where turnout may matter (and even then, whatever is promised to them during the election is usually first in line to be bargained away once the elections are over).Alyrium Denryle wrote:NO.
