So I cussed out a lab partner today....

Post by Solamnus »

Ok, so I have an Assembly class this semester. We are learning to interface simple I/O devices to a PC: a stepper motor, a LCD, an ADC etc. I am not all that good at programming in general, even moreso in Assembly (I prefer C++, it comes easier for some reason). We all meet on Saturday's to get the lab completed. We have one guy who knows Assembly pretty damn well, so I admit, he does most of the programming. He shouldn't though, and we should all help with the code because I know this would be a good way to jog my memory from the previous class.

Today, I was late getting there, about 20 minutes. Ok, my fault, oops sorry. No big deal, it was raining and there were three damn accidents which I told him about. The code was not working exactly like it was supposed to. Me and Roger really don't know much but at least we where there trying to figure out what was going on. David on the other hand was frustrated, which is understandable. He asked Sterling what interupt he used to scan for a key press off the keyboard and made a passing, demeaning comment towards me and Roger:
"Don't mess with the code, you don't know what is going on anyway!"
So we sat there for a little bit, me and Roger, trying to think logically why the code isn't working (it is the best we can do since we didn't write it and have cursory knowledge of Assembly). As we did this Sterling was telling David, 'I told you like five times today what I used, you do not need to get mad."
I asked what interupt David used and he told me all of them. I went to get my book and he pulled the chair from underneath me as I got up (but I didn't fall). "That's my chair!" he said. At this point, I am getting peeved that he is acting this way. But I ignore it for the moment and ask more questions: "Can we debug this and figure out what they code is doing? It looks like it is caught in a loop somewhere."
"Why!? It works! The code works! There is no point in debugging!"
So I raised my voice right back at him, "Well, apparently not. It is not working like it should, it only moves if you hold the damn key down and it is not supposed to do that!"
He picks up my book and hurls it onto the keyboard and then all hell broke lose. I told him, "What the fuck is your problem? You know we are trying to help you with this code and there is no point in acting like a fucking kid. I am sorry that we don't know Assembly as well as you but at least we are here. This is college! What are you, twelve!"

Inevitably, I packed up my books and left. I have English to do(which I should be doing...........right now). So what is the verdict? Was I immature for that outburst? Should I apologize? Or no?

You were in the right, he was acting like an immature child. Frankly, you're the one who deserves an apology.

A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Eh, I think he is 19 or 20. I know he was frustrated at the fact that me and Roger are not Uber Programmers, but sorry, I am there to learn stuff I never knew about. We had a previous assembly class and I forgot most of it and I admit that is my fault. I took little interest in it. But the thing is, I was asking honest questions. Perhaps even stupid questions, but the problem was with the code so there was no reason to get all pissy.

What a dipshit, I woulda slammed a nice heavy textbook into his nose for being such a jackass. This David dick is in serious need of a severe beating with a heavy blunt object...such a baseball bat or golf club. Throwing hissy fits, yanking people's chairs, and mouthing off like some bigshit toughguy? Tell you what, if he does it again kick him in the nuts repeatedly and slap him around a bit for good measure, the pencil dick numbnuts definitely needs it.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P
