Very funny episode, it's a shame. Get the DVD's (see Other Sci-Fi Forum for details).

I accepted long ago that FOX is run chimps that brains where surgicly replaced with snails. Family Guy and Tidus, two great comedies that they killed. Friday and Thursday is a deadzone for FOX programing, thats why they always put movies and specials there while they are out of new shows, but they don't seem to understand that, so they put good shows there and they don't make it they cancel it. Fastlane was apparently doing good on Wensdays, they moved it to Friday for a few episodes and then as they were running reruns on Friday they apparently weren't doing well enough so they cut it off. John Doe and Firefly both got the ax as friday shows, its going to kill Boston Public when they probly had another season left in them, It's going to kill Wanda Sykes new show. Also FOX has a habit of being unable to make a good drama show, so they overhype it and even then it looks like garbage(The OC and that rich family one they had a while back). Monday Tuesday and Wensday is where FOX does best, Monday especially, unfortunately they usually put crap there(Reality shows, the opposite sex[ok, 3 guys at an all girl college, it's not a comedy, it's not a drama, its basicly a porno with out the nudity aka crap), bad drama)

Just this Season shows Fox has introduced and canceled or cancelled.

Firefly
Fastlane
John Doe
Keen Eddie
Oliver Bean(I think)
That show about the unlucky family that got 3 episodes
The firm(or what ever that david e kelly lesbian lawyer replacement for ally mcbeal was)
Cedric the Entertainer
Banzai(I think)
The OC(ok not yet but, come on?)
Furturama
Andy Ricter Controls the Universe

Thats 8 and a half hours of programing, almost an entire weeks lineup. FOX's strategy is obviously to fire off shows like a machine gun and if they become an imediate classic, they beat the life out of it so that it dies quickly, or dies before it had a chance to become popular. Its a wonder they aren't bankrupt yet.

I forgot all about Andy Richter and Tidus, those were two of the funniest shows i have seen in a while... and they run them off the air for what ? ... a shit load of reality TV shows .... Paradise Hotel, amican idol, american junior, Mr. personality, who wants to marry a millionare, Greed, the batchleor, and lets not forget the famous, " who wants to sit around all day and watch reality shows. " -_- ... i mean seriously ... i could think of a hundred shows better than these -- even the show the pitts was better than those, and that show was crap ass... Fox is hanging on by a fucking thread with the simpsons, i hope Matt G. signs with another channel like NBC or something, just to make fox feel the burn, i have no doubt that FOX would get spammed with hate mail if something like that were to happen... but they fucking deserve it..... ughh, and lets not forget how they bastardised the power rangers with the endless fucking spin offs sheeeeeeesh

Yeah, well, it was suppose to be a mini-series, but apparently Jessica Alba had enough sex power to shrug off the Friday Curse(only show I can think of to do it, John Doe got close, but was cancelled before a second season, although it ended it's first), but the poor writting and shoddy switch from mini-series to full series caught up with it in the second.

She had me hooked.... i was deffinitly glued to her shit at 8pm on friday...

as for brisco county jr. i was a bit more relived when TNT brought it back :) ...

and if i was alive when ultraman came out, and it aried in america, i would have been screaming Rip off ... but seeing how you probably saw the Power rangers first as well... what difference did it make?

Listen, it was the early 90's all the karate movie fever of the 80s and late 80s were still infecting society, so naturally before my ninja turtles high wore off i was able to re-up with the power rangers. I think i was like 10, people are on TV doing Karate, and then they get to drive cool robots too ?! @_@ i haddn't ever seen anything like it! OMH ...it was truly a great show, for its time.

It just took a few extra years for them to deeeeeeeply run it into the ground. Alot like they did with the street fighter 2 series.

Now I think they're on the Power Rangers 2 Super ultra hyper ninja force kickflip skateboard stunt spectacular!

No argument there. That's why all I'd ever watch is the old school stuff. Only up 'til Turbo started. From Turbo and beyond...ugh.

Did you ever notice that's is usually the good shows that are first to go? Like Firefly, or Family Guy? Cancel some MitM clone if you want to replace it with more Lowest-Common Denominator crap.

But, I blame the viewers as much as I blame them. If they didn't suck up the Reality TV shit like a sponge, FOX would have no reason to keep airing it.

They cancel Futurama, Family Guy, Fire Fly, John Doe, Oliver Bean, and Andy Richter and they put on yet another show about over-sexed spoiled rich-kids. Like we havent seen that before.

Speaking of Futurama, why was it cancelled and why is "King of the Hill" still on the air???

Actually the concept for that didn't come from Fox. In fact the original Japanese show which was being directly copied always changed each season and after a while Fox decided to adapt that for its version as well.

Because Fox didn't have complete and utter control over it. Fox didn't like that so they constantly fucked it over until canceling.

I liked it, but I pretty much stopped watching it after Firefly went off the air. There wasn't enough reason for me to get up early and watch it before going to work. Besides, I think the hiatus got me used to not getting up.

Still, what a fucking crappy network. Why do they even bother trying out cool shows if they are going to can them? There must be one guy working there that has enough clout to get these shows on the air but he's go an enemy that has the pull to tomahawk them at the first hit of weakness.

Why those dumbasses continue to go by Nielson Ratings which take such a piss poor tiny sampling of the market. With so many television options now it's got to be even less accurate and more irrelevant except that they let the advertisers make it relevant.

Has anyone seen the previews for this seasons new shitfest?

One of the shows is about a pair of rich kids who's fathers a bitter rivals, and they fall in love, basicly Romeo and Juliet with mobsters and exstasy. Thing is it took me half the comertial to relize it wasn't the OC.

The other is a shitty looking comedy that looks like its gonna be Al Bundy if he was raised as a mexican and didn't get married.

Dead. The 4:15 football games won't be over by 7. It'll get preempted repeatedly. Your only chance of seeing it will be if, by some bizarre sub-clause of the NFL's byzantine broadcasting rules, Fox isn't allowed to broadcast the 4:15 game in your market.
7:30-8:00 KING OF THE HILL (8th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 11/2/03)
KotH has done okay. They won't get canned midseason, but the way they got yanked out of the late-night rerun lineup as soon as Dharma and Greg became available to Fox affiliates is a bad sign.
8:008:30 THE SIMPSONS (15th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 11/2/03)
Two or three years left on the contract. After that, I think the smart money is on this show finally getting retired.
8:30-9:00 THE ORTEGAS (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 11/2/03)
I have no idea if this show will work or not. The odds are against it, though, espeically if this is in fact just a Married, With Children knockoff.
9:009:30 MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE (5th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 11/2/03)
Running out of steam (Lois had a baby, a sure sign the writers were running out of ideas). It's just not as smart or as funny as it was a few years ago, and Frankie Muniz is getting a little too old to keep playing Malcom the way he has.
9:3010:00 ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 11/2/03)
The title says it all. Dead by Thanksgiving.
MONDAY
8:009:00 JOE MILLIONAIRE #2 (2nd Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 10/20/03) For the love of humanity, no
Let's see--the original premise of the show was that the women didn't know the guy was broke. When he chose one and then told her, you would find out if she really was into him or was just gold-digging. In order to pull this off again, the women would have to be functionally retarded, making Joe Millionaire 2, if possible, even worse than Joe Millionaire 1.

I predict record-breaking ratings.
9:0010:00 SKIN (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 10/20/03) hmmm, since it looks a lot a like, I though this show was already set to replace the OC
Just what the world needs. Another "Dynasty for the 21st century" (they're not plugging it like that, but you know that's how the pitch went). The idea has potential, but I have no faith in the writers of a Fox show's ability to pull it off.
TUESDAY
8:009:00 AMERICAN JUNIORS (2nd Season) (No Premiere date yet announced)TUESDAYS ON FOX, NOW DEAD!
Because American Idol is so great, we want to see a show with the same format, except instead of Simon making the little no-talent shits cry, they'll get supporting, constructive criticism before they're shown the door, and instead of the contestants whining that the judges aren't fair, we'll hear their parents doing it.

Another megahit, of course.
9:0010:00 "24" (3rd Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 10/28/03
I don't care for this show much, but I don't care for any show of this type. If the story is good, it should hold its own (it's in a good time slot, too.)
WEDNESDAY
8:008:30 THAT 70s SHOW (6th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 10/29/03) I love the show, but seriously, this'll be the last season
Agreed. Series finale, Eric and Donna get married, the gang starts to break apart and move away. Maybe Eric and Red finally resolve their issues with each other. That's it, the story has been told. Please, Fox, don't give us the last season of Roseanne here. Know when to quit when you're ahead.
8:30-9:00 A MINUTE WITH STAN HOOPER (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 10/29/03)
Seen the previews for it. It could work, it could fail.
9:009:30 THE BERNIE MAC SHOW (3rd Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 10/29/03) Hey, it's no Tidus, but it's not bad
I hope this show makes it. It's a funny, well-written comedy with a black cast that doesn't act like a bunch of uneducated ghetto homeboys. It deserves better than it's likely fate, which is repeated preemption for reality shows like "Trailer Park Millionaire" and "Mystery Dick", time slot shuffling so fans can't find the show, half-assed promotion, and finally cancellation.
9:30-10:00 CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER (2nd Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 10/29/03) Wait a fucking minute, I know this was announced as being canselled, what happened?
This show just isn't funny. Which doesn't make sense, because Cedric the Entertainer is.
THURSDAY
8:009:00 TRU CALLING (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 10/30/03)
9:0010:00 THE O.C. (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 8/5/03 / FALL PREMIERE: 10/30/03)
Don't worry, shitty specials and movies played on fox 4 times in the last year will be filling this up soon enough
The O.C. we already know about. I have little hope for a show where they can't be bothered to spell a four letter word correctly in the damn title. Be ready for the chopped-up, edited for television network premier of "The Animal" in this slot.
FRIDAY
8:008:30 WANDA AT LARGE (2nd Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 9/26/03)
8:30-9:00 LUIS (NEW SHOW) (PREMIERE: 9/26/03)
9:0010:00 BOSTON PUBLIC (4th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 9/26/03)
Fridays is Fox's Deadzone, good by Boston Public and thanks for the memories of a kick ass school, never did get to see Wanda at Large
You're not missing much. Funny as Wanda Sykes is, her brand of humor just doesn't work on network TV. Shame about Boston Public, though, especially since it lost its time slot to "Joe Millionaire 2".
SATURDAY
8:008:30 COPS1 (16th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 9/13/03)
8:309:00 COPS2 (16th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 9/13/03)
Three cheers for white trash under pressure! I see a season 17 in this show's future.
9:0010:00 AMERICA'S MOST WANTED: AMERICA FIGHTS BACK (17th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 9/13/03)
John Walsh's clever little idea keeps going strong. Didn't an AMW viewer spot Elizabeth Smart?
11:0012M MAD TV (9th Season) (SEAS PREMIERE: 9/13/03)
As long as Saturday Night Lives continues to suck, this SNL ripoff should do okay.
BACKUP SHOWS (to premiere sometime during the 2003/04 year):

o WONDERFALLS (NEW DRAMA)FOX's idea of drama is rich people around half naked women.
o CRACKING UP (NEW COMEDY) I got money on that this'll be shit
o STILL LIFE (NEW DRAMA) The abortion that survived, this fall, and only this fall, on fox.

American Idol will draw the kind of ratings that make network executives' mantitties tingle. Popular music will continue accelerating as it circles the drain. The Simple Life will fail miserably. The rest can be hit or miss, but I wouldn't be shocked if they all miss. The fact that Fox doesn't have that many backup shows probably means that they didn't see very many quality pilots. Which brings up the question--how bad is a show if Fox rejects it? Tune in to UPN to find out.

Those are my predictions for the new Fox season. You heard it here first, folks.

Dead. The 4:15 football games won't be over by 7. It'll get preempted repeatedly. Your only chance of seeing it will be if, by some bizarre sub-clause of the NFL's byzantine broadcasting rules, Fox isn't allowed to broadcast the 4:15 game in your market.
No problem. Can you say Arizona Cardinals' home game blackout? It's almost garunteed that they won't sell out. About the only time they sell out is if the other team is really good or the Cowboys.

Not that I'm going to make plans to watch this show. I've seen it once and it was entertaining enough that if I was just hanging out watching t.v. I'd probably tune in but I'm not going to tape it or get up early to watch it.

You're assuming the Cardinals would ever get the 4:15 spot, instead of getting stuffed in the 1:00 kickoff spot with all the other teams nobody but the home crowd cares about.

Actually, I was mainly pointing out that they suck and that people in Arizona would likely have no problem with shows being preempted.

They're often the late game out here because of the heat, and because of that only the early NFC game is broadcast on FOX.
