Ancient Civilizations?

Post by Trytostaydead »

Do we know anything about pre-Republic history? Who were those that created those Hijarana (sp?) fortresses?

Were they extremely powerful and wiped themselves out? Any of the EU really deal with this? Perhaps in the comics but I've never read them and haven't had a chance to read the NJOs yet.

Well, there are the Rakatans from KOTOR.

Zim the Despot fought the Hutts but lost at the Third Battle of Something. A secret society devoted to preserving his war droids guarded his secret treasure vaults until Han Solo found them and defeated them. I don't remember the details.

Yeah.

Some of their technical achievements were pretty impressive, what, some 34,000 years or so before the Empire rises?

I'd like to talk a bit about those achievements, but I gather that the majority of members are waiting to play the game on PC; as such, it'll be quite some time before we can talk about KOTOR tech totally spoiler-free.

Regarding the Hutts, someone in KOTOR mentioned that before the Republic was formed, the sluggies had some kind of loose hold on the galaxy, but they were "far from an empire." I knew they had sway, but I never realized the Hutts were quite that powerful.

We also learn a bit about ancient Mandalorians and some of the Sith, but most of the specifics concern those groups' fairly recent histories (to the game, anyway). I only heard snippets about "true" racial Sith of old.

As I recall there was are two incredibly powerful ancient civilizations. The Sahu, and the Gree

The Gree have technology similar to Stargates (hypergates)

I think the Sahu had technology that could manipulate the Force (might have them confused with another pre-Old Republic society. I know there are societies from later that have Force-based technology)

The Hutts seemed to be organized fairly early on but it was probably the slow speed of hyperspace that kept them, and others, from doing serious conquering.

Well, what about the time when some sort of massive cataclysm (probably caused by excessive global warming) sunk all land on Kamino??? theoretically, that could have happened before the Republic.

What about the race that built the Corellian system using Centerpoint Station and the planetary repulsors?

What about the Auii-Ti (sp?)? The one's in the HoT books. The one's who lived in that nebula, had those fold-drives, and those strong ships?
