Why the hell is AICN popular?

Post by HemlockGrey »

And by 'popular', I mean, 'why does it exist'? I heard someone on another board talking about how it was really spot-on with most reviews, and headed over there. I'd only ever heard of it before once or twice, but...

Christ.

The reviews are absolute trash! They're horribly written, the font size is ugly, the author seems to write in a stream-of-concious fashion that precludes any sort of comphrensible thought, and he blatantly contradicts himself in his own reviews! Not to mention he seems to have difficulty spelling any word with a letter count over five.

What the hell is wrong with this site?

Harry Knowles is a Stupid Fucker. He's some scummy fanboy industry spoiler-whore with bad taste in movies.

Funniest pairing with Knowles was the time he and Ebert did an At the Movies together back when he had a rotating guest critic spot. The fact that he was more enormous than Ebert by a huge margin was funny, then when Ebert started asking him some cinemesque type questions and watchign Knowles flubbing and floundering was even funnier. I just don't take him seriously, but his site often has the scoop on movies I want to see.

I used to read AICN all the time when I was in high school, but stopped because I lost interest with Harry's ass-kissing and writing style around when I started college in 2001.

That and even on broadband, the site took forever to load and access...
