Ok people enough dick wagging.
Anyways, blue decks ruled T2 when 7th Edition came out with a crap load of common counters. I predict that with 8th Ed white weenie decks will rise again. Savanah Lions is the shit. Although I though someone told me that wizards had vowed to never again make a creature with 1/2 or 2/1 for one mana. I guess that doesn't go for reprints like Norwood Ranger ( 1/2) and Savanah Lions ( 2/1)

I was thinking about making a Green/White deck, then I remembered I lost all my good green cards when my mom's van got caught in a flood. I also like Armadillo Cloak, 1GW enchant creature, +2/+2 trample, whenever it deals damage you gain that much life.Son of the Suns wrote:bunny, have you heard of hero's reunion? Creech, I have no problem with discussion about casual play and casual cards. I have a problem when people try to tell me about T1, and pretend they could know more with their weekend play groups and shaky decklists, than a player who routinely plays against some of the best T1 players in the world. Its like telling Michael Jordan how to shoot a jump shot, and then getting pissy when he corrects you.
Type 2 will probably still be dominated by cycling and by monored control, as these two decks lose nothing major with eight and both gain some powerful tools. Unless something rouge spawns, there will be little fluctuation from the common scene. And eighth is a rather poor set for casual play, it has few "fun" cards, just a couple like Underworld Dreams (pick up a set, and feel like a type 1er) and zurs weirding.
For a fun set, go for mirage/weatherlight. Phasing is fun, and creates hilarious plays, as des flanking.

Meh. I don't play tournament, I just play for fun. My current deck (which sucks, it's only 2-1 in mano-a-mano duels right now) is a blue-black with the following:
10 Islands
4 Counterspells
3 Spell Blasts (would be 4 if I had a fourth)
1 Puppet Master (3 blue, enchant creature: if creature enters graveyard, return to hand. 3 blue: return Puppet Master to hand if creature enters graveyard)
2 Control Magic (2 blue, 2 other: gain control of target creature)
1 Probe (1 blue, 2 other, kicker 1 black, 1 other: draw 3 cards, then discard 2. If kicker is paid, target player discards two cards also)
1 Time Stretch (2 blue, 8 others: target player takes 2 extra turns after this one)
1 Propaganda (1 blue, 2 other: creatures may only attack you if their controller pays 2 colorless for each creature)
1 Zuran Enchanter (1 blue, 1 colorless: 1/1. 1 black, 2 colorless, tap: target player chooses and discards a card) (planning on dropping from deck)
1 Thalakos Deceiver (1 blue, 3 colorless: 1/1. Shadow. If it attacks and is not blocked, it may be sacrificed to gain control of target creature)
1 Phantom Warrior (2 blue, 1 colorless: 2/2. May not be blocked)
2 Escape Artists (1 blue, 1 colorless: 1/1. May not be blocked. 1 blue, discard a card: return to hand)
1 Prodigal Sorcerer
10 Swamps
2 Hymn to Tourach (2 black: target player discards 2 cards at random)
3 Cloak of Confusion (1 black, 1 other: enchanted creature, if unblocked, may choose to deal no damage. Opponent then discards a card at random)
2 Mind Warp (1 black, 3 other, X: look at opponent's hand and discard X cards from it)
1 Fugue (2 black, 3 other: opponent chooses and discards 3 cards)
1 Last Rites (1 black, 2 other: discard X cards. Look at opponent's hand and discard X non-land cards from it)
1 Terror
1 Dark Banishing
1 Royal Assassin (2 black, 1 other: 1/1. Tap to destroy target tapped creature)
1 Dance of the Dead (1 black, 1 other: return creature from any graveyard to play under your control. It gains +1/+1. It requires 1 black and 1 other to untap the creature)
1 Diabolic Tutor (2 black, 2 other: search library for any card and put it in hand)
Gold Cards:
1 Mundungu (1 blue, 1 black, 1 other: 1/1. Tap to counter a spell unless caster pays 1 mana and 1 life)
2 Lobotomy (1 blue, 1 black, 2 other: look at opponents hand and pick a card. All examples of that card in hand, library, or graveyard are removed from the game)
1 Sealed Fate (1 blue, 1 black, X: look at the top X cards of opponent's library. Remove one from the game. Place the rest back on top of the library in any order)
Artifacts:
1 Mirari (5 colorless: pay 3 to create a copy of any sorcery or instant when it is cast. New targets may be chosen for the copy) (Used for Diabolic Tutor or Time Stretch)
1 Throne of Bone
1 Shield of the Ages (2 colorless: pay 2 to prevent 1 damage)

If you play routinely with 'some of the best', then have fun. you'd prolly be very bored playing with us, as we'd not be up to your obviously high standards.Dark Hellion wrote:Creech, I have no problem with discussion about casual play and casual cards. I've made a deck based on the Knights from Mirage/Visions, simply for the Flanking ability. It's a fun deck to play against goblins, white weenies, and any deck with mostly land creatures. Flyers give it fits, of course. For a fun set, go for mirage/weatherlight. Phasing is fun, and creates hilarious plays, as des flanking.
Phasing was a fun toy, although it could be a headache making sure the right card was phased at the right time.

Lady tevar, I think you get exactly what I am saying, that people should stop talking about tournaments and talk about casual decks.
Now for you viewing pleasure:
Counterphoenix (or why the fuck can't I kill that stupid fucking bird)
4 counterspell
4 mana leak
4 force of will
4 shard phoenix
2 squee goblin nabob
4 accumulated knowlege
1 ancestral recall
3 intuition
2 earthquake
2 misdirection
2 lightning bolt
4 volcanic island
4 polluted delta
11 mountain
9 island
People will hate you for playing this deck. It won't hold up against real decks, but against casual play decks, this thing will win in some of the most annoying ways possible. Execpt for earthquake, the only damage you can do is in 2 and 3 point chunks. But the phoenix will never, ever die if you play right, and bouncing them 3 or 4 times a turn is as annoying as hell.

I recognize the archetype; that's almost exactly the decklist for it. But how are you bouncing a Shard Phoenix 4 times a turn with that deck? Are you talking about more than one, or what? Or did you leave something out?Dark Hellion wrote:But the phoenix will never, ever die if you play right, and bouncing them 3 or 4 times a turn is as annoying as hell.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.
Can I show off my Spitting Slug?
No.
I also like Armadillo Cloak, 1GW enchant creature, +2/+2 trample, whenever it deals damage you gain that much life.
I love that Enchantment, I also have 4 of them. On of the local stores had uncommons from Invasion on 2 for 25 cents.
G/W decks are one of my favorite kinds. I played against a guy one time that kept bouncing back or destroying my lands. Due to all the enchantments I had I was still able to generate 5 or 6 mana with only one or two lands.
Type 2 will probably still be dominated by cycling<snip>
Question- have you ever seen a cycling deck worth anything that doesn't have lightning rift or astral slide?
Also another question for anyone who knows- what was the final decision on the mirari? Last time I checked M:tG officials were still deciding on whether or not to errata it to being able to be used only once per turn.
Anarchist Bunny and I had a rematch.
First Game: Bunny is playing a Goblin Deck. I'm playing the Ka-niggit Deck detailed eariler in this thread.
Round 1: Ka-niggits beat Goblins, 13-0
Round 2: Ka-niggits beat Goblins. 18-0
Next Game: Bunny is playing his Rebel Deck. I'm still with the Ka-niggits.
Only one round, cause he had to go, but not before beating me 15-0.
Of course, that Wall of Glare is a munchkin card (0/6, block ANY NUMBER of attacking creatures).
It gets worse with Unvolability on it (Enchanted creature takes no damage this turn)
Anyway, it was a fun and hard-fought game, especially at one point he was up to 23 life...

It would have been a lot more if I had got my Congregate out. You had 7 creatures and I had about 8.Anyway, it was a fun and hard-fought game, especially at one point he was up to 23 life...

Played T1 tourney this saturday. Placed 5th outta 7
Made mistake first round to draw with the eventual winner.
Lost second round to sui. Random first game, mana flood second.
won third round on paired down bye.
Missed top 4 by 2 points. Had I not made a mistake first round, I probably would have won. I was dominate over all but 1 deck in the field, my second round opponent.
U/B Tendrels is a very good deck and beat the other tendrels variant at the tourny handily.

I've seen three women play magic, and one guys wife sorta plays, although she just uses an Angel deck her husband built.
As far as I know no woman have made it big on the pro tour either.
Your a rarity LadyTevar, a magic player with a vagina.
In a tournament, you could use your breasts to distract the opponent, just wear a low cut shirt, and lean across to check out the board position. Most of the horny geeks that play magic would be sweating like pigs, and fucking up like crazy. And they need it to. It will probably the most of real breasts they will ever see on a sober girl.

Read it carefully, dude. Notice the placement of the words 'many' and 'claim'.DPDarkPrimus wrote:Still, the statement implies that said women (there are a few who show up at the M:tG gatherings every week) have organs they do not.
As for Tevar, she's a rarity. I understand she also has red hair, which basically if true qualifies her as uber-she.
For the record, my wife plays M:TG too, and so do her friends. They're a minority, not a true rarity. Many women I know who are into it do so because of the strategy of the game - most players know that you could change the art and the names of all the cards and the individual elements to GARDENING terms and the strategy of the game would be untouched. It's just setting which appeals to geeks, is all.
