Excellent pic. That machinery looks like the torso of a droid floating in orbit of that planet. I can see why you called it 'The Martyr' too...

Interesting, but what is a robot doing fighting space ships?

I think it'd look better uncolored. Eery scenes look better dark or in B&W, IMO.

Looks great Ver, I can't wait to see the finished version. Btw, your shading is vastly better than my own.

To me it looks like the remains of a battlemech whose pilot gave the ultimate sacrifice to save his comrades or world. Now his/her graveyard is the orbit of the world where the battle took place, more than likely forever forgotten except in the list of names of those lost in the battle, and his deed only a legend after all the years. Though forgotten and dead, he and his mech still hold vigil over the world, an eternal sentinel.

My problem is that limb.... it's too long not to have articulation somewhere before where it is broken... at least, that's how it seems to me.

Shading has always been one of my strong points. And you'd be surprised to know that the entire thing was done freehand.

Now, if only I could draw PEOPLE just HALF as well as machines...

Oh, I'm not surprised, and it's possible to tell it's freehand...

People ARE difficult to draw, they're too... organic, if you know what I mean.

People IS difficult to draw, too... (hate to use this word) organic, if you know what I mean.

Well, I can draw men fairly well, just not women or faces in general, though I have tried. But if I had any of my dragon drawings, I would have posted them long ago..

Oh, and I was speaking about the freehand in terms of the planets behind the machine. Pretty good circles, if I do say so myself (and I do), because I can hardly ever draw circles properly.
