Just got the uncut Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker DVD

I've had the VHS version for nearly two years now, but the DVD seals my opinion of it.

This movie was one of the best fucking movies of 2000-2001, and one of the best animated movies of all-time (only challenged/surpassed by Transformers: The Movie and Titan A.E.).

It's plot is wicked. The Joker is still deliciously sadistic and witty, the ultimate psychopathic genius. Terry gets a chance to play with the biggest, baddest Bat-villian of all time, the Clown Prince of Crime himself, and the way in which he does it is probably the best-written and best-drawn battle in Batman Beyond's history. The "final battle" between the Joker and Bruce Wayne of 40 years prior to the BB time frame is kickass, and chilling to the bone thanks to the circumstances.

If you haven't gotten it already, get it now. Rent it if you must, but you must watch this movie, a true classic.

Not to mention a rather "fun" scene with a KT level orbital defense weapon in Gotham City...

Note, the back of the DVD may lead you to believe that it is full screen. It is note and the movie actually is in widescreen format.

I have the edited version on DVD already is the Original Cut that much different?

As to the orbital bombardment, sort of made me think of Akira.

The final battle between Bruce and Joker is different, as is some of the dialogue. We get to see more of what happened to Tim Drake prior to the final battle as well.

My favorite scene has to be Joker vs. Terry at the end.

And Aly, I'm not quite sure it's a KT-level weapon. The damage wasn't enough.... but damn the damage was severe as it was. I think Gotham's going to spend some time rebuilding.

Did you notice how the weapon destroyed entire high rise buildings in a single shot? That takes a lot of firepower. Then look at the shotwave it created when it shot at the boat. I think that was very low KT level, but KT level none the less. Shit, I wouldn't be surprised if the Joker killed over a hundred thousand people that night.

The best part I love of the uncut was how the Joker vs Batman battle ended...seriously much better than the edited version.
