Mm.. back!
Hi, everyone. Remember me?
Sorry about my disappearance over the past few weeks. Had some slight issues in real life, and then, well, SWG is so befriggin' addicting. It's starting to ware off slowly that I can actually pull my eyes from the game.
But I'm back to bother, rant, bitch, moan, whine and complain, and expect the same in return. Bet'cha missed me! (God, I'm so full of myself.)

I have been afraid to venture into those big games for fear of consuming too much personal time.CrimsonRaine wrote:Hi, everyone. Remember me?

Bah. I got bored after about a week. Get a mission, go out and hunt critters with a "blaster" that takes more than a dozen shots to kill a man, repeat. Give me old fashioned time wasters like Command and Conquer and...well, SDN.Darth Wong wrote:I have been afraid to venture into those big games for fear of consuming too much personal time.CrimsonRaine wrote:Hi, everyone. Good idea, DW. I've seen people get sucked into those, and they begin talking about their characters like they were real people. Freaky stuff *shudders*. I mean, I RP, but there's a definite barrier between character and person. MMORPGs are brain crack...addictive and expensive.

I dont want to buy a game then have to pay an extra $20 a month At Least in order to keep playing it. I hate that shit.

Has that article about how characters on Everquest literally make more money than people in Russia or Bulgaria ever been posted here? People started trading equipment for the characters in Everquest on Ebay, you see--and then people started to pay for it with real money. Including for the fictional money used in the Everquest world. So some enterprising individual was able to work up an exchange rate, and, well, the rest is (a mildly disturbing) history...The Dark wrote:Good idea, DW. LucasArts banned such activity from SWG. Anyone found buying or selling accounts, items, or otherwise will have their accounts terminated. The Duchess of Zeon wrote:Has that article about how characters on Everquest literally make more money than people in Russia or Bulgaria ever been posted here? Eh... I find that almost insulting. Yes, you have people who are addicted to those games, mainly because they get lonely or it's a way to hide from their lives. But I have seen RPers who do the same thing, even worse so. People get addicted to anything, not just MMORPGs.The Dark wrote:Good idea, DW. I was seriously addicted for about what, two weeks, maybe? Because it was a new game. I was addicted to Final Fantasy, Duke Nukem and Diablo in the same way. I don't like something I enjoy being called Brain Crack.
And as for paying... *shrugs* Can be expensive maybe, but I pay $15 a month, which would usually go to fast food or completely useless shit. So it's not like I'm wasting money, when it would've been wasted in the first place.

Good. You can send me your copy then.RedImperator wrote:Bah. I got bored after about a week. Get a mission, go out and hunt critters with a "blaster" that takes more than a dozen shots to kill a man, repeat. Give me old fashioned time wasters like Command and Conquer and...well, SDN.
And SDN is addictive. This place has stolen far too many hours of my life away from me, never to return.
Crimson, welcome back! Glad to see the blue Twi'lek avatar roams again.
So, did your SWG character resemble your avatar?
Wait a minute, you're RedImp's sister, right?
Fuck, guess I won't get that SWG copy now...

Especially since SD.Net doesn't cost $15 a month. Does it look like I'm made of money here?Demiurge wrote:I can't imagine any glorified board game keeping me from my hourly SD.net fix.
Although recently TrekBBS has been taking a tad bit of time away from the board here. I can't help but squeal in pleasure everytime someone tells me to cool down when I go through a long-winded rant about why something sucks.
Fear not, I will return to my normal schedule soon. Then it will be fucked up again and I won't be posting all next week--band camp--followed by school resuming and really fucking up the program. Ah well, more late night surfing of SD.Net and less sleep. Followed by more sleep on the weekends. And I seem to have gotten off on a bit of a tangent. What are you gonna do?

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
