The Imperium of Man vs. the Systems Commonwealth

Post by Antediluvian »

For the purposes of the debate, neither side is being harassed by their traditional enemies, thus allowing them to concentrate their full military might on each other.

Discuss, please.

Well the Imperium won't be able to catch a high-guard ship... on the other hand they have lots of nice, stationary planets just asking to catch a barrage of virus bombs

The Commonwealth is fucked thirteen ways to sunday if the Imperium can field all it's might. If not, then not.

Imperium has no enemies and so has time to dig up all it's lost tech.

This is some sort of sodomy isn't it?

Speed goes to the Commonwealth (given that their Slipstream drives apparantly make travel to other galaxies somewhat easy).

However, I think firepower, ship strength, and overall weapons tech goes to the 4th Imperium.

And again, I think the Slipstream drives have the same problem of having minimum distances from star-sized masses that plague most FTL drive systems, which means they'll have trouble fleeing an Enchanach Drive-equipped planetoid.

So... I see the Commonwealth either being steamrolled slowly by the Imperium, or reduced to shoot-and-scoot tactics to try and stop the Imperium.

Uhm hope/pray someone in the Commonwealth is as sick minded as Harper and builds a nova bomb bigger than Roseanne.

the commonwealth has the same disadvantages facing the imperium as they does the empire of SW, both enemy states has larger fleets of much heavier starships, though here it's speed advantage is even greater both faces a even larger numerial inbalance.

the GHC is after all one of their largest starships yet both the impstar and the much larger lunar dwarf it, and they are simple medium cruisers in the fleets of the 2 empires.

I meant greater then both,

and I am comparing the sizes of the common cruisers of the commonwealth, the imperium and the galactic empire.

Green we're talking the Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40,000 not the 4th Imperium (who wouldn't need to catch a high-guard ship thanks to the ol' hyper-missiles).

As for the Imperium.. Virus bombs and cyclotronic torpedoes abound :)

So what happens that no planets are left in 3 galaxies, because people just BDZ planets and nova everything in sight.

But warp travel sux and the Iom can't even get to SC anyway. SC wins unless the emperor becomes god or something.

Or rather the Andromeda folks go into the IoM territory and never return. :)

And since the Chaos Gods have apperantly gone quiet and the warp isn't in upheaval that we know the IoM should have a dandy time smashing the Commonwealth. The Imperial Guard alone is going to eat them alive, and that's not counting stuff like the space marines.

If you remove the Deamons from warp space, then the Warp of the imperium is actually very fast. In this situation they would be able to cross their galaxy in at most a day.
