Quite a lot, acutally.

I heard the story of one time she dismissed a Canadian/Aussie/Sub-Aussie...er, New Zealand ( ) PM. They evidently forgot she could do that. I think they changed their constitution or whatever to prevent it.
What happned is this. The Australian Govenor General dissmissed the Whitlam Government after the Aussie Senate refused to pass a budget.
The Govenor General is legally entitled to do this, and still is.
What caused the problems is that the GG normally acts on the advise of the government of the day, and the Whitlam government was a popular government. It also raised the question of should the Senate havethe right to stop monies bill's?

No laws were, or have been changed that I know of as a result of this.

BTW, call us sub aussies again, and I will crawl down the phone line and cut your nuts of. :D

*sigh*

NZ became a independent kingdom in 1947 when we signed the 1931 statue of Westminster. Aussie and Canada signed, I beleive in 1931.
We have a Monarch as HoS, and that monarch is the British monarch. That we have the British monarch does not make us in any way subserviant to Britain as both nations laws do not allow for this.

The commonweath is, at its most basic level, the British Empire old boys club. The Queen is the club chairwoman.

The Queen is HoS of a number of independent Kingdoms, such as Aussie,Canada and NZ. She is represented by Governor Generals, who are localy appointed and they have some reserve powers but are for all intents and purposes cerimonial. Legally the Queen and her representave do have a lot of power, but it is only exercized on the advice of the government of the day. This is the Westminster concept of responsible government and Constitional Monarchy.

We were that good they needed a bloody huge island for us. What'd Britain give you, something the size of my backyard and a few sheep for company. :P

*points out to both of them that the US would plaster them in a fight anyway, as would probably the UK if they got down that far*

And the only reason the Aussies are treated with any respect is because of the beautiful women and the nude beaches (which are not overrun with sheep). NZ is Sub-Aussie because, well, it's a smaller, wannabe Aussie, and it also happens to be a tad south of the northernmost parts of Australia anyway. :)

And you both sit on the bottom of the world. The only place further away from everyone important is Antarctica.

They sent the respectable people here beacause it is a better version of the British isles, naturally we brought our food with us.
NZ, being the size of Britian, was expected to dominate West island as Britian dominated Europe..which we soon will

If we spent a lot of time around the Aussie women on the nude beaches, I don't think talking with them would be high on the priority list. :D

I voted 'yes' on the referendum, but wasn't overly concerned about it since either way it was just a rubber stamp and totally meaningless.

That was until I went to the UK, and had to wait 2hrs, and play 20 questions at customs when traveling under my Australian Passport, had I been traveling with my Greek/EU passport things would have been much quicker.

You could imagine how pissed off that I was, I mean she's our HoS!
